I have a 52" Toshiba HDTV and there is something about Smash Bros. that has really been bothering me. On the title screen and all throughout gameplay there are tiny pixels that show up in the background that do not fit in how they should. They flash on and off and make the picture look terrible. I have not noticed this on any other of my games. It is exremely noticable on the title screen when set to progressive mode. I have notice it slighty on the main menu page for the Wii now that I have seen it on Smash Bros. I have both Smash Bros./Wii and my tv set to widescreen with component hookups. Does this game truly look this bad or is it possibly my game? Should I just try and call Nintendo and see what they have to say? Any help would be appreciated.

Sure, Wii games arent going to look excellent on HD tellies, but that is not really the question...

Im not that knowledgable in this kind of thing, but what youre describing is exactly how I see some of my games on the HDTV at home. When I play the same games at college (on an SDTV), I dont have the problem. Maybe you could plug the Wii into something else to see if the problem persists? Then at least you will know if its because of the HDTV, or if the console / game is a dud.

Yes, I know the Wii is not HD. I have had mine since launch and it is running 480p. There are distinct pixels that are flashing while the game is running in progessive mode. It has only recently become an issue with Smash Bros. when it has been hooked up to my girlfriends Toshiba HDTV. I talked to Nintendo and they said it might have something to do with TV not scaling the resolution right. I am going to have to hook it up to another HDTV to see if the same problem occurs.

HDTVs and even SDTVs now adays have a game setting. Read your manual to see if your hdtv has one. HDTVs depending upon the brand can many image issues such as not displaying black properly or putting lag on everything or not having enough sharpness. You need to do research before buying a HDTV.

All of the graphically intense games on the Wii seem to give my particular system an issue, and I reckon its that gpu issue too (I have a launch Wii). You dont happen to know how much it costs for the problem to get sorted? Ive only just started to notice, and the warrantee has expired already.

just remember to breathe and relax because even when you know what you are talking about they make the conversation painfully understandable, my fav rep quote when i last called was "ok now sir, do....you...have...the wii remote....near...you, pick...it...up...so...that...the...top...is...facing you, turn...it....around, now you...should...see...the...back...of...your...wii...remote, gently...spank...the...back...of...your...wii...remote" im sure not all the reps are like this but its both hilarious/frustrating how far they go to make sure you understand, that entire convo btw was about 25min lol

I occasionally get the flashing pixels when playing Twilight Princess...
