I don't know if this will mean much of anything to anyone but the most diehard of the old-schoolers, but what the heck, it excites me, so I'll pass it on.
According to Kotaku, taken from the rumors section of the latest EGM, Konami is going to have a surprise revival of one of their nearly forgotten, cIassic 2D series. Take a look at this:
It's not Biker Mice from Mars. It's not Bucky O' Hare. Ummm... I know it's exciting to speculate and stuff, BUT... I think the answer has already been given, and given quite OBVIOUSLY, at that.
Look at Konami's 2007 Christmas Card:
Ummm... who's holding the Konami sign in this picture? Why in the world would Sparkster be even appearing in a CURRENT card when he hasn't been in a game this decade...?
Ummm... duhhh...
Really, WiiFanBoy. Really, Kotaku. If they gave a hint in the rumor section that said it starred a certain MARSUPIAL mascot, would that make it a bit easier for you to figure out?
This is actually quite exciting news! I've been hoping for and mentioning Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster in my "Sleeper Topic" for years now! Those games had some of the most inventive gameplay ideas, awesome graphics and perfect pacing, of the entire 16-bit era... and that's saying A LOT!
I am officially unveiling the "rumor" here, staking my reputation on it, and advising anyone who has a love for 2D, Side-Scrolling, Action Platform games, who doesn't already know this series, to wholeheartedly check it out!
