Maybe you should do more than just post a link and and ask for comments?
A conversation goes two ways...
They are strangers anyway. your friend code list is just strangers you meet on the internetAgain. Read the title of this thread one more time.
It clearly says Nintendo prohibits communication with strangers with the exception of pre-determined text messages. So I would think voice chat is communication... In other words Nintendo will not allow you to communicate (voice chat, video chat, free text) with anyone you do not know unless you are using pre-determined text messages.
Was that clear enough??
So don't get your hopes up too high regarding The Conduit..
Sometimes I forget there are 12 year olds on these forums....

Accept Nintendo can't be held responsible for what you do while surfing the web.... They do however clearly warn people about stuff like this... So they've done their job and don't have to worry about people's lawsuits, and people saying that they haven't done enough to keep kids safe.

Nintendo cant be held responsible if someone is offended by what another person says. Its like a theme park cant be held responsible if someone stands up on a roller coaster and plummits to their death[QUOTE="air_wolf_cubed"][QUOTE="GoDsSoN770"]They are strangers anyway. your friend code list is just strangers you meet on the internetAgain. No, a "i warned you" won't do.
Nintendo is showing that they're responsible enough to make it hard (if not impossible) for "child-lovers" to make nintendo online one of its haven to trick little kids to giving them whatever information they need from them.
Also, people play games to have fun...if you need to talk trash to your known friends to have fun, then the game you're playing isn't fun in the first place.
I see no problem with it at all, I do not expect some of the standards elsewhere on other platforms. Nintendo need to t remain a family orientated company, VC among strangers would severely danger that. Among Wii Friends it will be fine, it's not a predefined mess at all.

the friends code is insanely bad..
it should just be that you can have ONE friends code for your system and you can see waht games people are playing and join their multiplayer games , chat etc.. (if you allow this with a profile setting)
it's the way to go...it's safer for kids people...

But is an online FPS the place kids are ment to be? Personally, nintnedo is treating humans as wild animals with the brains of a baby. Who can blame em though, soccermoms, their target audience, will sue anything that is populare and has blood. Not like us hardcores need any attention when the main audience disagrees.
Good. Playing on steam for the past 5 year's made me realize I don't want to talk to idiot's over the internet.
Even if they did allow it I'd only be talking to friends or people I know who aren't going to act stupid with a microphone.

Playing on steam for 5 years made me relaise I do want to talk to people over the itnernet. Given a mute button here and there, I enjoy talking with strangers.

*shakes head* You exhagurate the situation. Watching youtube videos of people grieving in counter-strike is only 10% of your average online community. For a person on a forum, you sure do hate talking to people.

I like talking to people, but I guess that antisocial nerd stereotype had to come from somewhere. The vast majority of people just like talking like as if they were at a lan party or something, unless you've never had friends over at your house before. Then I dunno how to explain this to you.

You're talking to Haziq, man. He has friends over all the time.
I don't know anyone with Wiis that like to play a lot of games. Otherwise, I'd be totally fine with friend codes. All of the "gamers" at my school play Xbox and stuff. I guess I'll just ahve to get FCs off of here...
*looks around meekly*
you can watch/look at pron via the internet channel, but they are worried about strangers talking to kids (or whatever).
I find that rather odd. I honestly can't remember if there is parental locks on the system or not, but if there isn't...why couldn't they do that??
It's not Nintendo's responsibility to babysit people's kids. I don't understand why they think it is....lol

hehhe..
Anyways, access to the internet channel can be restricted. I don't think they can restrict hardware from being used though...

My experience with Steam is rather identical to that of yours, Haziq.
People on Steam, whom own and make use of the microphone, tend to abuse at times (from my joyful experience with TFC), its random, sometimes in TFC, only one person will own/make use of a mic, and blast music over it, have their off spring speak gibberish into the mic, or just shout owned pwnd and the like.
But alas, it is only TFC, experiences differ per person due to #'s of servers.
My luck with mic abusing fools seems to be some-what the same.
In short, I know where your coming from Haziq.

Yesterday I was playing TF2, and some kid had a techno remix of Tetris playing the whole time.
I would have muted him, but the song was so addictive...I couldn't do it.
But that time that kid played the Rick Roll'd song...over and over...God, I wanted to kill him.
If you read the FAQ posted above, Nintendo tells parents to either turn on Wii Parental Control settings, or to use the Astaro Internet Filter.you can watch/look at pron via the internet channel, but they are worried about strangers talking to kids (or whatever).

I usually get a good dose of Daft Punk's "One More Time".

gotcha...
So I guess that just supports my statement about the topic even more so. They give fair warning...they should allow people to speak if they want to.
So....does this mean we can't Chat unless we have someone's friend code, or what? That's what I'm getting out of it.

Thats how online games with voice have been so far, at least on the DS. However not that many Mature or AO games are released on Nintendo consoles.
ESRB clearly warns that game experience may change online. If the parents don't want their kids talking to strangers or don't think their kids are smart enough to NOT tell strangers their address then it should be the parents job to not buy the voice chat, forbid their children from using the online functions, monitoring their children while playing online, etc.
I think being able to communicate effectively is fundamental to some games especially FPS. Whats the point of a team game in an FPS if you're unorganized. All you do in MOH is run around only attacking certain people and ignoring others. With voice chat I can tell someone "hey theres a sniper by the tower" as opposed to using the premade command that says "ENEMY SPOTTED". where. what good is it to me knowing you found someone if I don't know where.
sure there may (and probably will be) the annoying kid screaming whenever anything happens but you can just mute him. and if some guy trys to get info you don't want to share mute him or if its bad enough report him.
These things should be up to the parents to monitor. Nintendo shouldn't have to babysit the children and make the rest of us suffer for it. That would make Nintendo the guy who gets invited to go see the Dark Knight with the rest of the gang but oh wait, he can't go because the Smith's are at The Dark Knight and he has to babysit.
