Firmware 4.3 update HD upgrade confirmed!!!!
I bet it's something corny, or Miyamoto on the show or something.... We basically have to just keep watching the Nintendo Channel for the surprise right?
YESSSS!!!! It's the end of friend codes!!!!!
And game makers are going to be free to use their own servers!!! Anything less would be a disappointment.
EDIT: Forcing the use of the latest firmware in order to play online games (to reduce hackers) would be acceptable as well.
Pikmin 3 Trailer? A man can dream... :(luigi9863That doesn't seem too far out there, not the scale of Zelda Wii trailer or anything, but definately a great surprise. But don't get your hopes up, probably just some new trailer for NSMBWii or something.
A Zelda Wii trailer?gamefan67
I think it's a little too soon for that. Trailers for that are typically saved for someplace like E3, so I wouldn't expect one until E3 next year at the earliest.

Most likely. After all, Nintendo's not exactly known for doing something big when it comes to online related matters.

Slim chance, but that would be awesome. The Internets would implode, Gamespot would start reviewing Wii games, and Pachter would finally get a job that suits his intellectual abilities, hopefully, something that involves asking people "Would you like fries with that?"
And game makers are going to be free to use their own servers!!! Anything less would be a disappointment.

Wait a minute...you've never heard of EA Nation?
3rd Parties are mor than welcome to use their own servers...they're just too cheap to actually do it. So far, EA's the only one who's bothered.
I doubt it's a game reveal. I have a feeling it may be a new channel or a much anticipated Virtual Console game.
Woah, don't even give them that much credit. It's probably something that literally nobody expects, wants, or cares about, but Nintendo calls it a big deal anyway. My guess...as somebody mentioned above, likely a gameplay video. Maybe NSMBWii, maybe something else that doesn't really matter because it'll be on IGN within the hour anyway, who knows? The floor's the limit!I doubt it's a game reveal. I have a feeling it may be a new channel or a much anticipated Virtual Console game.

EA is one of the few companies that has enough clout to use their own servers (they aren't forced to use friend codes either, at least not for certain games). Developers have said Nintendo required them to use Nintendo's servers for online play, and in fact, third parties couldn't even include online play in their games for the first year or so after launch.

More of a realist, but sure, why not?
He just uses the Yahtzee method: assume all is **** until proven not ****Nah. I only do that with things that make sense. Obviously, Nintendo isn't going to do anything special for the rare people who have their Wii's online and go online regularily. It'd be a waste of their time.
The furthest I'd go is that they'd make Nintendo Week a half hour instead of 10 minutes. I honestly would be more than happy with that.
If anyone expects any more, they're just kidding themselves.

Ya I only expect something minor and stupid, but I have this tiny hope that they realize how pathetic an announcement we expect and want to surprise us... but I really could care less, everything I want as of now will come soon enough, whether or not we get Zelda footage until December 2010, it will come and I'm fine if they take their time.I hope she's talkin' 'bout everyone who has connected to the Internet on Wii over the past couple years, instead of just a select amount of people who connect in a certain timeframe soon. That'd be an unwelcome surprise.:P
Whoa, I was just browsing the Nintendo Channel, and I saw a vid that had "Special Update" in the title. I went on that vid and wanted to see what it was, and it was an announcement that Nintendo would be releasin' a bunch of DLC for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers OF The Sky or somethin' like that.
I don't think that's the update Denise was talkin' 'bout, but if it was, I'm gonna' be kinda' disappointed.:P
The article says it's a small surprise...could that be online demos?
That's what I want.
DDRMom
Yah, I'd really appreciate it if Nintendo started some type of online demo service, especially for VC and WiiWare games. I hate to buy WiiWare games only to really hate them in the first five minutes of gameplay. Maybe I should do more research for those games.:P

Kinda hard to, given that info for those titles is rather scarce, aside from the occasional video or two.
Hmm..
Maybe Nintendo will think we have anmesia and announce the free NES game to the people who purchased the Internet Channel.
Not that I don't want them to announce anything awesome.. its just I have really low expectations for what they do online.

What are you talking about? There's tons of material to look up online for these games. Only the really crappy ones don't get attention, and that's usually a pretty good sign that the games are going to be crap. I mean if you only spend your time on GS, then of course there isn't going to be much info. GS doesn't care about WiiWare. But IGN, GoNintendo, NintendoLife, and other sites always have lots of footage to watch.Remember folks, they said "little surprise".

By little, they really mean HUGE.

Any baby borne of such greatness would surely turn out to be the anti-christ.
