Trust me when i say that Nintendo wants mature games on their system badly, i don't know why Nintendo has not said anything yet, my guess is they don't want to be involved in this if things get too serious.cobrax80
i think that if nintendo PUBLICLY backs this game up, jack thompson, stupid christian groups (like the ones attacking sony for the church scene), and others, will be all up nintendo's @$$
This is huge I mean HUGE! Nintendo, for as long I can remember was called "kiddie". But they where the only company to give us the uncensored version of BMXXX and Killer 7. They even was going to release a border line H-Game on the DS this year. So I think Nintendo is either going to back off the Manhunt thing or help defend Rockstar with the rating.matallicthewolf
I'm sure they will defend it, they want mature games on their system badly, They did comment and defend manhunt 2 a month or so back, so i guess that's a good sign.
If the rating of Manhunt 2 sticks of AO due to Take-Two not doing anything about it by release, Nintendo can be the first ever in history to licence a real AO rated game and shove it to people who'd said Nintendo is "kiddy" only! Show me that the Wii was made for everyone, Nintendo!

You sure Killer 7 was censored? The gore and swearing was still in tact in the GC version.....And many other M games still had all the gore in tact. Mortal Kombat 5+6 and RE4are examples of this.
Also, I'd like to bring this interview up again. It clearly states Nintendo WANTS mature content, because they themselves don't specialise in that field: From the producer of Scarface -
I would say that Nintendo were the most inviting company in terms of, "We really want mature content. We want ours to be a system for all ages." They don't feel the system is just for little kids. Which I agree with. I've seen more older people have fun with the Wii than you can imagine. To watch my mom play with the Wii was something I never thought I'd see. She'd never pick up a 360 or PS3 controller. But she plays "Wii Sports" with the grandkids.
And Ed Boon from Midway on MK Armageddon on Wii:
I think Nintendo recognizes that there is room for mature rated games in their library of available titles. We had zero problems with them in terms of us including the complete version of "Armageddon".
Who ever said they wanted rated M games Badly? did you hear that from nintendo? NIntendo doesnt mined rated M games on their systems, I doubt theyve ever had a prob with it. Its just now more Rated M games wanna be on the wii for its Motion controls, Im pretty sure if wii didnt have motion controls or a pointer, then it wouldve probably came out on the ps2 only.EndlessPunisher
common misconsception

i think nntendo are secretly pleased with the rating as it goes a long way to shaking off the 'kiddy' imagemark_c_128
Lol could be true, but why should Nintendo bother kicking up a fuss? They never askedR* to make it this violent (although it was inevitable) but to be honest it's not going to make a huge dent in their name/sales as it would be a top class seller as the likes of Zelda & Mario titles.
Personally, Nintendo can't do anything about the problem but either back it up or let it go.. Rockstar is the one with it's head on the chopping block... They can either keep it Ao and risk it not selling at all stores and see if it still sales well, or they can tweak the game and make it M rated and see if it still sales well or not.
Plus Iwata probably does not care any way about this game or it's rating, Considering that Japan has strict rules on violence in general hince the edited version of Resident Evil 4. I think it will probably come down to Reggie's decision if Nintendo wanted to take a stancebased upon him being President Ceo whatever of Nintendo of America. I think he will probably say go for it.. that is why the rating system is in place. I jsut think this is only a start of R* and nintendo relationship..
Also Nintendo has to deal with the whole texas lawsuit, so i dobut the whole R* issue is a major thing to them right now..
This is what reggie wanted. Because of this game and the controversy surrounding it you'll see a massive increase in demand for system (which is already extremely high). angelfly
Probably so. Even bad news is good publicity.
I have a feeling that the PS2 version will get an M rating while the Wii version, with it's motion controls, will get an AO. Nintendo seemed pretty determined to get a Rockstar game and I think they're gonna stick with it. I honestly don't understand why everyone is freaking. You shouldn't play this game unless you're old enough to purchase it. WOOPS....that means only adults. Sorry kids. If you're that determined to play this, and are underraged....well....I'm sure you'll find a solution. Never stopped me from getting Mortal Kombat back in the day...nimblemiix
Yeah don't make such a big deal about it, if you want it so much you can just ask your parents to buy it for you...
This game will be one of the few games that are rated AO. The game is a sick game and i dont even know why anyone would want to play it. You can rip a guys spine out with pliars. I think they are quiet because Nintendo hasnt really had too many games where you brutally kill somebody. Either that or its not coming out for a month and they have a bunch of other great games that are coming before that, or maybe both. Nintendo has other good games that are coming out before Manhunt, and those games will be much better than manhunt. Manhunt wasnt really talked about until it was scheduled for the wii.
They don't want to touch it with a 24 and a half inch pole. They WILL sit back and let the publicity do what it does, let the consumers see that they aren't only a company for the young audience.
I think that the challenges of this game being AO are really none existent. I for one didn't know anything about the Manhunt series before this. How many people are going to be talking to people they know about this contraversy? How many people who don't normally follow games will hear about this particular game? They don't need to advertise anymore. the contraversy in the media has raised awareness and love it, hate it, or otherwise, people will know about it.
Think of the Exorcist and it's effect on society. Think of The Haunting! Today's generation has never seen an advertisement for the Exorcist, but they know what it is and they can't help but think of pea soup.
If Nintendo is smart it will not move into the limelight, because doing so will just move it to a particular audience and that is that last thing they want!
Manhunt will probably be released in it's current form. The kind of work that will be needed to have it ready for release is pretty intense (I assume) and they aren't going to greatly effect their profits by extending producion time andwatering down the game that got them this publicity. The game is on the Top Games links at the bottom of this page TWICE! It will sell more as an AO game regardless of who carries it. The only question I have is what is this going to do to EB/Gamestop?
If they are one of a few suppliers, then their sales will boom and they'll gain more customer loyalty. If they don't then they'll lose them and someone else may become a serious contender for top dog.
Microsoft and Sony have never licenced an AO game on their platforms and I believe Microsoft actually has it as company policy to never do so. With that said, do you guys think Nintendo will back Rockstar and TakeTwo if Manhunt 2 gets a finalized rating of AO? Will Nintendo licence it and put their name on this game? For some reason I doubt they will, while Nintendo has been more forgiving lately with graphic content on their platforms than either MS or Sony (only the GC versions of BMX XXX and Killer 7 were uncut), an AO rating maybe crossing the line. Your thoughts?Master_Hermes
I severly doubt MS has a "company policy" to never allow an AO rated game on their system. That's a statement you have to back up with a link imo because it sounds like total bs.
Ninteno will allow this game on their system. It'll help b-slap the kiddie image they have.
If games like this don't start hitting shelves, then the industry will never truely evolve beyond what it is right now. It's not only Wii, PS2, and PSP gamers that need this. It's for the greater good of the entire industry. Consumers and developers.

Well said.
And if EB won't carry the game they'd lose all their cred as a game store, in my eyes anyway. I sure wouldn't support their stores anymore, I'm serious. It's bad enough they don't sell routers or computer cables. And it's not like they're the only place in town to buy games, and it's not like they have good prices either,

...Damn morals! Stupid Policies! [kicks stone]
If they don't want AO games on there consoles then howcome Sony didn't do anything about the AO version of Gta San Andreas? It was AO for like a month before the M version came out.Ryder123
Actually, it was M but later changed to AO after the hot coffee mod was found. When the change occurred, majority of the stores pulled the game off of their selves and made ebayers happy because they could command a premium for their game.
