All the best developers left Rare that's why Nintendo let them go in the first place.

No! They have RETRO now, and they are very very talented. And what has Rare done since they left Nintendo? Basically nothing!

Rare is a shell of what it used to be now that most of the heads that made their games so magical have left. Buying them back wouldn't accomplish much at all. Besides, like others have said, Nintendo has Retro Studios now, and they pretty much are a spiritual successor of Rare.

Retro's pretty much our new Rare.. I wouldn't complain if I was able to play Kameo, Viva Piñata and new Banjo games on Nintendo systems, though..

^this Nintendo should not buy back Rare. Perhaps they could buy some of their more lucrative IP's and form a team of those old developers though.

I'm sorry, but Rare's become that poor hopeless kid on life support whose parents refuse to disconnect. It wouldn't made a difference if Nintendo brought them back or not.

First nintendo is not trying to reclaim the hardcore, that was just a rumor. And even if they are trying to get the third party support for their next system they may not bring their AAA titles. And we may be stuck with a lot more shovelware. And one the second point, heck no. Rare died the minute it left nintendo. The Rare of today is worthless. The games they make are well below par. They are also the reason I did not get a 360.

Rare wouldn't be any better with Nintendo at the helm. That said, Viva Pinata and Nuts and Bolts were pretty damn awesome.

Yeah, I agree.

What people really need to realize that when you buy a company, you inherit all of their IPs. Banjo, Killer Instinct, Conker, Perfect Dark, Battletoads, Jet Force Gemini...I think Nintendo might like to have access to those IPs again.

No, Retro has replaced them. Now what Nintendo should do is buy back some of the IP's that Rare had (Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Killer Instinct) and buy Free Radical and let them and Retro work on them.

Rare is a shell of what was once the best 2nd party dev ever. Lets all just remember them that way. The were sold for a reason and MS got the short end of that deal big time. Rare has released only two or three games that are any good (I would personally not rate any of em above an 8), and that is over the span of 2 generations.

People say that, but it may not be that Rare is the problem, that could be simply be that Rare and MS were never a good match. Rare back with Nintendo could see that old greatness brought back, however I don't see it every happening.
