Nintendo sold 194, 000 3DSes in April

I just read an article on N4G it should be near the top.

Keep it up haters. It seems to be doing just fine. As soon as the big games come then sales will skyrocket. But keep on hating haters.

I agree, haters gonna hate. The 3DS is awesome and as soon as we get some more awesome games I will be more than excited.

Actually I'm not sure where I read it but I believe it said 3DS sales were on the increase amongst the price drops in Europe. I think this was a different article though. Not that it matters who is first second or third anymore (if it ever did matter to people) since the platforms will likely get the games now as long as they can run them.

All that matters is it prints money. You never know. By the end it could be just as successful as DS was.

Once the holiday season comes around the 3DS will fly off the shelves. Believe me.

I never said that Nintendo was dropping it, make sure you read my posts fully before responding, they did say this though...

"Nintendo 3DS has not been selling as expected since the second week [of availability in the United States and Europe], and this is not just in the Japanese market but also in the United States and Europe, where no direct impact from the great earthquake has occurred," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said during an investor briefing in Tokyo. "Therefore, we recognize that we are in a situation where we need to step up our efforts to further promote the spread of Nintendo 3DS."

Also no, you don't know the history of the DS if you think this follows that pattern at all. The DS was a runaway hit from launch and saved the company, if Nintendo was in the same situation and released the 3DS they'd be out of business by now

DS was not a huge 'run away' hit when it hit shelves. It sold well, like the 3DS is, and it met their expectations, but it didn't blow up like you're implying. It gained reputation when better games came out. The DS had a worse launch line up than the 3DS (Mario 64 being the only decent game, and that was a rehash).

Nintendo never said 3DS is in trouble, just that the sales have been disappointing. It's not too surpising they're disappointing considering the lack of games and the fact that pepole are still waiting around for the e-Shop. Things will pick up in June, and probably explode around November.

Hell yeah great news. The Nintendo 3ds is a awesome handheld. I loved it since the day I bought mine. I will be buying every type of game for it too. Such as Mario,zelda,kirby,fifa,wwe,cod. This is perfect for an all round handheld console. Any haters out there can go suck a lemon. :)

200 000 in basically its first month is awful by all standars. Nintendo is going to need more than a magical flute to fix this

Um, while it is outpacing the DS's sales at this point in its life, 194k isn't amazing by any means.

It's not bad, but lets say 200k for 10 months, and 400k for 2 months in a year, that's 2.8 million. That's pretty bad.

I'm sure it will get better, but I think they will hammer home the update features until the fall.

Maybe a price drop just before Mario Kart in October or November, to $199.

Its mainly £180 now. I have actually seen one at £160. It could be different in your area though.

nintendo is doing well no matter how you look at it.

Sales will pick up once the killer software arrives. Two RE games, MGS, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Zelda, Starfox, Mario 3D. The only thing stopping me from buying a 3DS is the lack of decent gaems out right now. I'm sure it's the same for others.

Early lead doesn't always = victory though... think Dreamcast, a great system that came out 9/9/99 and then got squashed by the PS2 a year after that (and GC/Xbox another year later). The 3DS will be fine though, as long as it can maintain 3rd party support. That's the most important thing for this handheld IMO.

There's a little game coming out mid-June. It's not much, just a remake of the highest-rated game of all time, and part of a series of games with one of the most devoted fanbases ever.

I reckon it might drive console sales just a little.
