Before I go on let me point out that EVERY system I've ever own was something Nintendo.

The reason why I say this is because Nintendo fans are always saying they want something but Nintendo almost never gives it to them. Now that Rock Band has come out saying that the Wii needs a hard drive to be able to have DLC. Reggie said something similar about Brawl. Now fans are asking Nintendo for a hard drive. Let me give you some reasons why we won't get one.

1. Out of all the games that have WiFi, at the most half of them are games that would work with some sort of DLC.
2. Really only 3 games "need" DLC, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero 3.
3. Nintendo doesn't seem to care that much about their 3rd party games so they aren't gonna take what, correct me if I'm wrong, Harmonix said about Nintendo should make an expansion hard drive for the Wii seriously.

But the stubborness isn't all that bad. Some good comes out of it. A little of the stubborness comes from the fact that they make many good 1st and 2nd party games. Because of this, to me at least, they act like they are a little better than the competition. They think their games are better that the 3rd party games for the Wii.

Sorry I'm getting a little off track

Because they focuse so much on their 1st and 2nd party games, they almost always do well. Super Mario Galaxy, Pikmin, Super Smash Bros, ect. At least on Gamespot, Metroid Prime was the the highest rated game for Game Cube and to me it seems similar to Halo. I'M NOT TELLING NINTENDO TO GET HALO 4 WII! I'm just saying Nintendo should get 3rd party games similar to Halo, such as Gears of War. I think that may be a only Microsoft game but you get the point.

Think about this, why are there so many games that come out for only PS3 and Xbox 360 and leaving out Wii? It upsets me a little but then I just think that we get every Mario game, every Metroid game, and every Zelda game.

Please leave any messages if you have any questions about my phylosophy on this, to correct me, or just to leave your opinion. PLEASE NO FLAMING!

Nintendo is trying to avoid competing directly with Sony and Microsoft. So far it has worked. But it has kinda pissed off some gamers who want more from the system.

I think they are extremely stubborn and its lame.

Another thing to consider is that most of the decisions comee out of Japan and they are not connected with the bigger western audiences. Japan seems to be falling away from gaming so user input must not be as helpful there. If nintendo really wants to sky rocket then they have to make their western divisions more significant. NST considering what they are capable of, havent mad ethat many great games. I think if NOA had a full on REAL dev house then alot of these problems would be met.

Nintendo has control over their 1st and 2nd party games. Their only control over 3rd party games is to not license crummy games, and they don't do that. They must feel it's the consumer's responsibility to decide what games are good.

The main reason PS3 and 360 games don't come to the Wii is that the Wii's specs are so much different from the PS3 and 360. The Wii can't do a lot of things those other consoles can, so developers have two main options, 1) take out enough stuff so that the game will run on the Wii, and have Wii owners say, "why is the Wii version so lame compared to the PS3/360 version?" 2) make games for the PS3 and 360, and different games for the Wii that take advantage of the Wii's strengths.

If you bought a Wii and expected it to get all the most technically advanced games, you shouldn't have bought a Wii. If you bought a Wii, but you don't care about Nintendo's 1st and 2nd party games, you shouldn't have bought a Wii.

i don't see a problem here, nintendo is fixing the problem but it's fanbase is too large to cater to all of them in such little time.

Yeah, Nintendo is probably the most stubborn gaming company in existence. But frankly, that's why I like them so much. The vast majority of the good stuff they give us we would never have gotten if they had just taken a poll of gamers and given them what they were asking for.

Yes Nintendo is stubborn. They almost always been like that. Even since their first games, the best and most famous ones were made by Nintendo. Also they could make a USB hard drive which would be nice to see. Of course they wont. Do not forget that the Wii is also largely underpowered compared to the PS3 and X360 which means it is some what of a pain for 3rd party developers to numb down the game to the Wii's level. I do hope that the successor of the Wii is a graphics horse as well as an innovative console. Otherwise Nintendo might not be my first choice of console.

I understand your concern but I do believe it fits in here. Although perhaps their were a "Nintendo" forum it would better fit in there. It seems that many of the Wii fans here agree somewhat with the poster. Although as you indicated it could get out of hand but I doubt it will progress to such a level.

They are stubborn yes I the only reason I have stopped complaining about it is because I was eventually forced to buy a second console for all the other things Nintendo refuse to implement :? and thet have been this way since the N64. At the end of the day though if I am honest I did buy the Wii for first party software the same as every Nintendo console, any good third party stuff is a bonus but I didn't buy the console for it (no Nintendo console since the snes could survive by its 3rd party offerings).

They're not really stubborn as they do listen to fans. It's just that they don't have much of an online system and they don't really know where to go with it (but that seems to be changing with Mario Kart). They don't listen to fans in the online aspect of their business.

One other thing they seem to refuse to budge on is the hard drive and memory problems. VC games take up too much space after a while and downloading and re-downloading takes too long. Plus Wiiware games will undoubtedly cause more problems. At least let us run the games directly off an SD card!

Anyway, that's my thoughts on Nintendo's "stubbornness". Its not so bad though.

I find it very irritating that after all this time they still haven't released a hard drive. Online play is another problem because I get lots of lag in Nintendo games but no lag at all on 3rd party games, weird. Also the lack of hard drive is irritating. 512mb just isn't enough

Nintendo is going to do what Nintendo wants. Plain and simple. They do not fall to fads, create something they don't find to be the best it could be, or follow what everyone else is doing. Right or wrong, they've been doing this for quite some time now. Nintendo has gambled A LOT in this generation and I can tell you with some sincerity that I've never seen a more popular system in my life.

"Hardcore" gamers want other systems. Fine, take them.

Everyone else wants a Wii.

As a personal thought, I feel like people give too much crap to Nintendo for not having this or that feature on their systems. As far as that is concerned, I can see where they are coming from, but I can see where Nintendo is coming from a little more clearly. They made a strikingly simplistic console that almost anybody can use and enjoy, different features aside. Now Nintendo is doing well. I'm shocked.

Look into a Wii and if it's not for you, don't buy it. If you want it then go for it, and good luck finding one.

You're right, Nintendo are stubborn. This can be good and bad. I mean, if they weren't so stubborn about sticking to their whole 'disruption' philosophy we wouldn't have Wii right now. Then again, their reluctance to sort out the major storage problem restricting their system is flat out annoying. Why is everyone so obsessed with getting a HDD though? The Wii has an SD card slot. You can get 8gb SD cards. Problem solved.

Yeah. You can also get a few 4 GB SD cards, but most of them don't work. Also, the ability to run VC games and use save files DIRECTLY off the SD card would be great.

I stand corrected. Still, I think a few 2GB SD cards is a better solution than a bulky hard disk. It would make life a lot easier for Nintendo as well. All they have to do is update the firmware so Wii can boot Wiiware/VC from SD cards.

The thing is, they refuse to do that. They claim downloading and redownloading games is convenient. If they did, all our memory problems would be solved.

All I want is voice chat. Nintendo, I want voice chat in my video games. Not being able to properly communicate with my opponents is boring. It's like playing against CPU's with unique behaviors, which is redundant.

I agree with the sd card idea... only 2 GB but you can have more than one and it would be cheaper than a fat HD

about the 3rd parties... is not that nintendo "doesn't seem to care that much about their 3rd party games" on contrary, THE 3rd PARTY GAME DOES NT TAKE CARE ABOUT NINTENDO... the thing is that, if the 3rd parties open their minds and (like maya fei said) think outside the box, they could make awesome games for wii, but they prefer to stick with the old school of pushing buttons in complicated combination...

BTW, you can mock me if you want, but what is a DLC?

Surely they didn't add the USB ports for nothing?
But i could understand, maybe they want to use this to get the Wii into the spotlights again when necessary.

How about nintendo should start getting good games in general? I mean i love most of the first party games but i mean none of the third party games are pleasing me. The only third party game i do have (im pretty sure) is GH3 and Medal of honor 2.foola12
It's not Nintendo's job to make sure the Wii only has good 3rd party games. That's up to consumers. 3rd party developers would quit making crappy Wii games if people didn't buy them.

That's what You'd think anyway. I refer to Army Men series. More than 30 games that i believe have never sold well at all. I recall reading certain magazines just for the Army Men review, cause it was so funny to see the words they used to describe those *cough* games, and to see them beg for the series to end.

No. If they acted differently what if they did what gamers wanted what if the people they polled had a completely different bias then the rest of the world.

They must have sold well enough to make some amount of profit. If you don't spend much to make a game, you don't have to sell many copies to break even.

nintendo is a very conseritive company, the last time they went all out with graphics (N64) it failed. go and took a look at the nintendo wii, and the Japanese NES (famicom) there are some really neat similaries, such as a speaker on the famicom controller. Also go and look at the old game and watch games. theres one that looks just like the DS. Now game and watch and NES worked for them in the past. why not go back to them, and they are working right now.
I think that leads to Nintendo's stuborness. They have found something that works and they are sticking with it. Also Nintendo has always been really stuborn with 3rd party compaines, back in the days of the NES, there was a chip Nintendo made that went in the game, and if you didn't get it from Nintendo your game wouldn't work. Nintendo also made it so companies could on make 5 games a year for there system. Companies got around this by making games under new company names, Konami (ultragames) (look up metal gear book art).
So this is just something that Nintendo does, and always will do

you know there still are 4gb sd cards that are compatible with the wii. they are just hard to find.

At least on Gamespot, Metroid Prime was the the highest rated game for Game Cube and to me it seems similar to Halo.

Metroid Prime seems similar to Halo.

lol i dont see this game anything like Halo. Halo is a more arcade-ish style of FPS while Metroid Prime is a FPA.
