Greetings all!

Firstly, I would like to announce that this is my first post here in Gamespot, and im proud to call it my new online home!

Secondly, I would like to submit a question regarding Nintendo games vs the rest.

In 10 years from now, which games, from this current generation, on any platform, do you think will most likely be remembered (if at all) fondly?

And what do you guys think makes a game stand the test of time?

Thank you.

Regards.

GS.

Personally, it will always be any Mario and Zelda games. While I do love all the Metroid, Kirby, and many other games; the Mario and Zelda ones have always been those that I remember so well from almost 20 years ago. Heck, I remember the first time I played with Mario (known as Jump-Man back then) 26 years ago. Zelda will always have a HUGE place in my heart, specially Wind Waker.

I think everybody will have fond memories of something Mario. I got rid of my Wii before Galaxies came out, but I beat Super Paper Mario, and it was a really fun game. In the short run visuals and neat new gimmics in the gameplay make for an excellent game, but in the long run, what makes a game memorable is based on one sole factor - how much fun you had playing it. For example, I've always had great fun playing RPGs, so Final Fantasy VII is a very memorable game to me. Actually, most of the Final Fantasy games are memorable to me with the exception of Tactics (10 bucks says I'll catch crap from someone for that). In any event, I think making a game memorable boils down to making a game fun. That is definitely where Nintendo shines. In 10 years, Nintendo will have more memorable titles, but they won't be able to compete with 360/PS3 games in the short run.

Metroid, Zelda, Mario. I think they'll still be well-remembered series.

If you mean modern games, then these games are my picks:

Super Mario Galaxy: The reviews say it all, it's already one of the best reviewed games EVER... not to mention that it really is that good, I'm still playing through it and I'm loving every minute of it.

Nintendogs: It was the game that really pushed the DS ahead of the PSP in sales, and rightfully so. It was one of the very first games to truly utilize what the DS could do in every arena, innovation, control, graphics, etc.

Brain Age:Unfortunately, even though this isn't really a "game", it's popularity will make it a very memorable game for sure.

I have many more I could list, but these are just some off the top of my head.

hard to say...Mario imo is the only one who is lasting right now.

Metroid has always been a more select crowd than Mario and Link.

and Japan did not care for LoZ TP at all...and many americans were as well (overall dificulty was too easy for the loz fans who were ready for another great LoZ title)

but just about everyone agrees Mario is amazing.

omg are you stupid mario galaxy is the best game of all time at gamerankings!!!

Legend-Gamer

...Fanboys. Why do they think a couple AAA games makes the console better. Besides, even though Mario Galaxies is one of the best-reviewed games on Gamerankings (under another Nintendo title, I might mention), I don't think it's as impressive as some of the stuff the 360 and PS3 are getting. If Gamespot issues any 10 scores this console wars (if being the important word here), the game will be on either 360 or PS3. I'm wager on it.

Mario and Zelda will continue to be known in 20 years. For Metroid, I don't think so. Metroid and Halo are similar in this philosophy. Halo and Metroid will be forgotten in 20 years.

Here's the franchises that I think there's going te be known in 20 years:

Mario
Zelda
Final Fantasy

I don't know anything after them.

Well I've only ever rated 2 games 10/10. They've both been on Nintendo consoles. I expect a third: Super Mario Galaxy.

Let us look. What games do you remember from Snes? Or NES? Or GC for that sake.

I'm 14 so only I've been a gamer since N64.

But I guess from NES it is Zelda and Mario

Snes it is Zelda Mario and maybe Super Metroid

N64 It is Mario and Zelda

GC it is Mario and Zelda (I remember Pimin well though)

wii sports, cause who here doesnt have a good memorie the first time u played it, i dont think anyone thought "wow this is a rip off" and for most people it is the first wii game they played, it ushered in a new way to play and many people came to gaming, i also think mario games like galaxy, and prpbable ssbb cause it is the first game to break major legal ties like with snake and sonic, imagine that will be epic, loz tp maybe but the next wii zelda game will be the one to do it
