Nintendo Wii at 6.5 million, holy mother of God!

 Considering the length of time the Wii has been out compared to the 360, it has already sold 6.5 million, were as the Xbox 360 has sold a little over 10 million. I will leave the PS3 out, well because you know.

I find that pretty freak'n amazing considering the constant shortage of Wii's and the head start for Microsoft.

Feel free to put this sucker on system wars. I don't want to because angry fanboys scare me.

That's pretty sweet! Now if only i could get one soon. I bought Wii Play today because i got lucky and found one. They're still hard to find around here (Minneapolis, MN). But I still have no Wii.

Anyways, since there selling so good hopefully they will make a lot of good games. Some new franchises would be nice too! Especially a new platform game. I'm getting impatient for SSBB and Metroid Prime3 so hopefully one of them will come out in june.

Same here. I thought it was going to be the cube al over again. The Cube was fantastic, and really under-rated. That's what I thought was in store with the Wii, and then, BOOM. It exploded. Think of how many people will be ready to play online when we are able.

I was scared the Wii was going to turn out to be like the Gamecube all over again as well! I didn't want to get a Wii at launch, but came to a realization maybe the Wii will turn out a different corner and head into a different type of direction than the Gamecube, so I made myself wait in line on launch day to get one. I am happy I did get one, because all my friends and co-workers that waited out for later who'd want a Wii now can't even find one. At my work place all I hear from my co-workers is: "I want a Wii!"  Many of them aren't even gamers, but see the Wii as a tool that makes video games enjoyable for them.

dont be so sure,demand is still insanely high because of the shortages and like people said the big three are still on the way. The Wii has alot more to sell

Actually, the number of 360s sold seems to be way lower than 10 000 000... However, we haven't got official numbers from MS for a long, long time.Wintry_Flutist

 There was an article awhile back that said the Microsoft had overshipped the number of xbox 360s to hype up their numbers. They haven't sold ten million they have shipped that number.

Thats really cool, but anyone who thinksHalo 3, Fable 2 and GTA IV wont sell as many units as SSBB, Mario and Metroid is crazy. I do think Wii could catch up and pass 360, but those three games need to be flawless and followed by a string of big announcements.

I'm still cautiously optimistic, the wii might not be able to hold out in the long run and the demand could decrease, I hope not, more sales = more games!

I think you may be overestimating the selling power of Halo like many do on here, Halo may have critical acclaim and be very popular but did the first two games help the xbox outsell the PS2? Killer apps stopped selling consoles a long time ago, its killer librarys that sell these days (which I realise the 360 is already building nicely :) ).

once the wii actullay goes online you will see even more sold as wellas more Game Devs jumping on board. Its amazing that the wii is still off the shelves. They come in and come out.

I was talking to a guy at Toys R us and he said that the wii isnt selling as fast any more. He said that he go 20 consoles on Sunday and they were sold by tuesday.....!!!!!! I was shocked to think that the guy at TRU didnt think that was fast.

This is true: Halo and GTA will be battling it out for most sales. But remember, GTA sales will be split between two consoles, so it wont neccessarily boost 360 sales vastly. Halo 3 is a sure system-seller. But Nintendo isn't counting on fighting for the same buyers as Microsoft- expanding the market etc. That's why, of SSBB, Metroid, and Galaxy, it's Galaxy that's important in terms of sales, since it has the broadest casual appeal (NSMB being the biggest-selling game on DS... I believe). And that's without mentioning Mario/Sonic, Wii Music, Health Pack and whatever else Nintendo has in the bag. Animal Crossing. Nintendogs?
