The wii commericals are what has made the system sell. If people remember the product then the commerical has done the job. For some reason a lot of people when watching the commerical just remember the commerical but draw a blank at what service or product the commerical was about.
The PS3 commericals on the other hand just made people not want the system. Demonic babies do not sell game systems nor stacking cups, nor a woman sitting on the toilet, nor exploding rubic cubes.
I hate those Wii would like to play ones, and I am happy that somebody else has spoken up. I think they are dumb and they are trying too hard to get gamers to buy a system for the "cool" system factor and not for the games!ice_radon
Sans the controls, there's nothing special about the Wii. Without them, the Wii really would just be another gamecube.
Controls are its strong point... esp right now, while the 360 has many more titles available... Nintendo absolutely must emphasis them.

I get it! You're a TOOL!
Seriously though. The Wii is amazing and you're just upset and still trying to validate your purchase... The Wii has some much more than a controller (5 controllers if you count all the different ways to play)! Great games are available and more are being developed. The VC is FAR superior to XBLA and the internet connectivity is only going to grow more and more. Personally! 360 is the same thing with a shinier package!
Whoop-de-do! 360 has Gears! GET OVER IT! It's been out for how long and thats the best you can come up with?! Yeah! Great library! I don't even own a 360 and I've beaten that game 4 times! Go back to system wars!
Uh, no, I'm not. And while I do have a 360, its broken and I'm in absolutely no rush to get a replacement (I've also never played gears... not my thing really).
I'm not validating my purchase. My purchases is valid. It's a good system with good games. However, there is no denying the fact that it wouldn't be selling like it is if Nintendo had gone with a convention console with a conventional controller. It would have flopped, just like it's predecessor. I mean look, third party developers were all ready to abandon the system prior to its launch. It's only when the saw the controller, and later the vast numbers of people buying the system, primarily for said controller, that they changed their minds.
And yes, the VC is good, but it's not what's selling systems. No, the controller is it's absolute strong point. And one wonderfully amazing strong point indeed (I love this dang thing... can't even play racing games on a conventional controller anymore cause I'm so used to tilting, lol).

It would have an even lower price point, and would still have a strong marketing compaign and a focus on multiplayer (which is always better than playing alone). What you're saying is ridiculous though. writing off a system because if it was completely different, it wouldn't sell as well?
If you took all the differentiating factors and just had a box and saw which one could open the history of the world faster then the Wii would fall short! Ergo, it's not a good system?!
You don't look at Batman and say, "If he didn't have that nifty tool belt, I could take him..."! You accept it as one of the tools he has at his disposal and enjoy seeing him bring the man of steel to his knees!
I may be a minority but I like the Wii commercials.
*On a side note does any1 know if its possibleto get the "Wii would like to play commercial" music?
That commerical music is from a music cd from a Japanese group. Itunes and Amazon both have it for sale. Seriously you have google improve your search fu.
http://www.domo.com/yoshidabrothers/index.htmlis the offical website of the Yoshida Brothers.
The song is kodo (Inside the Sun Remix).

ThePlotHole is completely right, and effthat is wrong. If the Wii didn't have these controls, it woulc be crap. I know, I love Nintendo too but if the Wii were just another PS3 or 360, I would have got a 360 last year when I had the chance. You see the Wii has sold about 7 million right? The Ps3 has sold about 3 million right? 360 has sold 11 million right? If Wii were another graphical system, PS3 wouldn't have the six-axis and IT would be the on in the 7 million range. The Wii would flop, it would be Gamecube 2 with a 1 and 2 button and slightly better graphics. The Wii IS controls and gameplay. Without them it would get 10 sales. The Wii needs its controls. Just because your a fanboy you think you know everything. I could be considered a fanboy, so far in my life I only have Nintendo systems and I love Nintendo. But I like Sony and Microsoft too. I'm not saying Nintendo sucks, hey, Go Nintendo, but fayboyism is stupid. Do you say this when buying TVs, "Hey, this one is an LG TV. I hate LG. I'm going to get a Sony TV because I just LOVE Sony. Screw LG." No. This has nothing to do with what I'm saying though. Back to the point, the Wii is nothing without controls. Because you love Nintendo so much (or you think you do), don't make up all these lies that the Wii would own without the Wii-mote. We know what the Wii is capable of, and mostly everyone on these forums loves the Wii. And we all know that without it's easy controls and target to all audiences that it would flop. So let's just all go to our Wii's and play them, and then think about what it would be like playing the same game with Gamecube graphics and a Gamecube controller with a 1 and 2 button. It would suck. Don't start saying random crap because you think your a fanboy and love Nintendo. Fanyboys are actuall biased people that say they like something, but find out they don't. My answer to the topic, I love the Wii commercials. Their great and I want more of the same ones to come out. Those Japanese guys are my idols. This all had nothing to do with the topic.
