Nintendos next handheld system

I'm not sure, but that is why good research is useful, so u don't make a mistake. I remember I wanted to buy a ds, but I accidently found a website talking about the ds lite. I feel glad I didn't buy the ds phat, so that I wouldn't have regretted it.hydralisk86

I think the plan is a new system about every 5 years so that puts the next system being about 2010.Atomic1977

Why worry about it though? I own almost every system Nintendo (And Sega, Microsoft, Atari, Sony) has ever put out (yes, I am that lame). SNES is four generations old now, yet I've played (and still play) it more than any new system thats come out since.

DS is a great system and great systems last for years after their respective companies have 'killed them off', IMO.

Yes, but they released a new GBA every 1.5 years aswell. The newest DS version could be announced soon.

It most likely is going to be a 3rd DS...think about it:

1) Gameboy (phat one, idk the name), gameboy pocket, and gameboy color

3) Phat DS, DS Lite, ???

there is 3 of each

Anyway, I say the next version of the DS, if made, might have some news soon. If another version of the DS is made before a new handheld is released, it will be about a year before the new handheld. This would place a new, original handheld in the Q3 2009 to Q1 2010 range, and the new version of the DS by the end of next year.

How did I get this? Think about how the micro did. Did anyone buy one when they could get a DS instead? No. So that means the next DS will probably be out in less than a year and a half, so that it doesn't go to waste in the shadow of a new handheld. My two cents, and I'd bet money on it.

Business follows a cycle, a note that my whole theory is based on a third version of the DS being made. Nintendo might decide not to after the micro incident.

I can't see the DS getting any smaller than the Lite. Not without being extremely uncomfotable to hold.
