I've been anticipating the Wii Zapper ever since it was revealed in it's original form. I wasn't too excited about the new model, especially with just having the Nunchuck attached to the back, it seemed lazy and clumsy. I've heard numerous bad things about it online, especially IGN. I never set out to get it with Link's Crossbow Training. But then I borrowed it from a friend...

I have to say, I love it. Played the game it came with and had a lot of fun. But then I stuck in Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, what a difference. I first tried out Arcade mode and had fun, but I was blown away with how much more fun the campaign mode is with the Zapper. It feels much more immersive. It feels exactly how I'd imagine a first person shooter game on the Wii using the peripheral. It feels great. I probably never would have tried finishing it if it weren't for the Zapper.

Why is it that no one really talks about the Zapper? It doesn't seem like many people like it or use it, why do I feel so differently? I think it's great and I definitely plan to buy one for myself.

I wasn't too sure about this either, but for the price, and the fact that it included a LoZ game I picked it up. I have to say since plying with it, I am glad that I got it. The one thing that really bothers me is there is no place to really put the wrist strap. I am surprised that this part was not factored into the design of the zapper. It really gets annoying to me after a prolonged period of play. Any suggestions on what to do with it? Just take the darn thing off? Or has someone come up with a better solution?

I took off the wrist strap. I was annoyed with it hanging off the side, brushing against my hand any time I moved. Just taking it off seems the easiest solution.

I think so, yes. I'm having a blast with Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 using the Zapper. Holding the Zapper almost makes you feel like you're holding some of the bigger guns in the game, then add the vibrations from the Wii-Remote and precise aiming.... it feels great. I look forward to future 1st person shooters with equal or better controls.

I started using mine for the first time last night and like you, I was quite impressed with it. However, one thing that does suck is grenade throwing in Medal of Honor Heroes 2. Without the zapper, it feels great to chuck one. But with the Zapper, it's awkward and unrealistic because, obviously, how can you throw a grenade when you are holding a two-handed weapon? But other than that, it's awesome.

And yeah, the wrist strap is annoying. And I also find the entire assembly process annoying as well. Wrapping the nunchuk cord around in the back of the zapper, taking the protective jacket off the remote, etc. So tedious.

Having said that, I do think the Zapper is great overall.
