Since Suda51 promised to make No More Heroes even more violent than Manhunt 2, is it going to be rated AO too? Or do you think they will tone down the violence now?
not necessarily... no more heroes is cell shaded, therefore seems less brutal then manhunt 2 which supposed to look real and is supposed to seem extremely violent
What other people said, and more importantly NMH is gratuitous violance, while Manhunt 2's is sadistic. There a big difference between slicing a dude in half with a beam katana and mutilating someones body with a knife or monkey wrench.
I made the same topic a few days ago, apparently people assume it won't because it cel-shaded, and i think politicians will just say that it's being marketed towards children.
As well its not made by Rockstar or published by TakeTwo so yeah I doubt anyone is gonna go crazy over a game that would die of shock if it reached the million mark world wide, let a lone in the US.
Just like killer 7 it'll get passed an 'M' ok. Personally i can't see a huge amount of difference between the Hitman series (especially blood money) which was clearedand Manhunt 2 which hasn't. IMO Manhunt got banned on it's reputation rather than any consistant critera.
And he never promised to make it more violent then manhunt 2 i believe what he said was "I'll try my hardest to make this game more violent than manhunt 2" it wasnt a promise to make it more violent, it was a promise to make an effort to make it more violent, and so far i can tell you that the violence is more like kill bill violence or cartoonish so i highly doubt itd get an ao even if it had the same level of brutality as manhunt 2.
No More Heroes might be more violent than Manhunt 2, but it wont have sex/rape like in Manhunt 2, so it wont be rated AO. It'll most likely be rated Mature.
I dont know why people are so quick to say that. Killer7 had a small amount of sexual references and content, I wouldnt be surprised of NMH didnt have similar or increased amounts given the nature of the game being a social commentary and the provocativeness of the female characters..
people seem to forget how sick killer7 was, yes it's cel-shaded, but it's so bland, the music is creepy, the entire atmosphere of the game was..... unpleasant, the fact that it was cel-shaded made it more brutal, not less. in the end, even though manhunt will probably be more straight up violant, no more heroes will have a more frightning atmosphere that will make the game overall harder to swallow.
This garbage needs to stop. IIRC, in the interview you're talking about it was only mentioned that Suda 51 would like to make the game more violent than Manhunt 2. They promised nothing. And even that statement was said jokingly.
I think this game will get an M rating. Look at the graphics, they're not really even trying to look realistic, it's more like cell shaded. That alone will get it the M rating.
