"Matt Tomporowski: We felt that it was essential to keep our multiplayer focus on delivering an awesome and innovative 32-player online experience, so there is no split-screen multiplayer mode."

http://wii.ign.com/articles/813/813365p2.html

My brother and I were really looking forward to this game. looking forward to shooting each other up like in vanguard and redsteel. now what? we gotta buy another wii to play against each other? that really sucks. well theres always re:umbrella chronicles but thats co-op and redsteel 2. mayb someone esle will make a great offline fps. sigh. well this one's goin' off our 'to buy list' and into our 'rent' list.

yes it has 32 player online. ooooooooooh, online. so what. both my bro and myself are done with online games cause theres just to many cheaters, mods and quitters out there. recently, we decided we were gonna give strikers a go. cause mayb nintendo players are more honest. yeah....sure, our record so far is 4unfinished matches in a row! all our rivals left the games and we kept getting a message "your opponent has left / disconnected. please choose another' or something like that. so what if ur losing 5-2 or 3-0? u can still come back with some strategy, items or super strike. but no! its easier to just disconnect. so thats why we prefer offline games.

and wat about if friends come over? too bad eh? no offline when there's 2 or 3 friends over at our house. and wat if they don't have wiis? that means we will neve rplay against them?

thanks ea. u blew it.

both offline and online are equally important. wat about ppl that don't have internet? no online therefore no multi? wat about when friends/ family come over and u want to shoot each other up? nope, not available.

look at smash bros melee. no online wasn't soo tragic? the fatc that freinds came over and u could trash talk each oither in person was just great. and ppl that didn't own a gc could play with u.

but in my case, wat am i supposed to do? buy another wii so i could play against my bro? prolly not. and if its split screen online for 2 ppl..we're prolly gonna be on the same team so if we want to shoot each other...ull have an odd 2 / 32 players that kill each other although they're on the same team....yea thats chaotic..but thats whats gonna happen.

Yeah, I agree. The main reason why Motorstorm flopped was because of the lack of an offline multiplayer.

i agree with TC. there should be no excuse for not providing offline multiplayer. Sure 32 person online is great, but happens when ppl start to cheat/mod/disconnect like crazy? u get sick of it and you stop playing it thats wut. then you'll bad knowing there sits a good game in front of you but no one to play with. sure online is the future, but u cant just leave the essentials in the past. its madness! lol

A game with offline multiplayer but no online, I am fine with. A game with online multiplayer but no offline, well that's just the stupidest (or most stupid, however you want to put it) thing I've ever heard. I'd say something, but I'd just be repeating above comments. Hopefully, they'll fix this problem before the game comes out. If not, well, that'd just be idiotic.

I agree that they shouldn't take it out, but Online is more of a priority then splitscreen. And BTW, dont play multiplayer games where you compete against one person, becuase they usually quit, atleast with 32 layer online, less people will quit. I hope they will add splitscreen eventually.

I was looking forward to sniping my sister while she runs around uselessly, now I guess I will be stuck sniping people online...not exactly what I wanted.

i actually dont care! i barely have anybody to play with offline. so all my mutliplayer is online except on some days of the year. im glad to know they at least are puting effort into online. CoD3 for wii didnt have offline multi right? I'd much rather than focus on online than offline. wii really needs some more online games. if this game actually pulls off a decent shooter as in at least AA we'll have plenty more shooters coming. and at least 50 percent of them's gonna be World War II

From the interview, it seemed like it was simply a matter of resources. They could either make a fully functional online mode with no offline multiplayer, or do both and have unpolished experiences for both. Developers don't have an unlimited amount of time and money to create games, unfortunately.

Imagine yourself as part of a development team. You'd want to put as much in the game as possible at the highest quality possible. But your boss (probably a faceless group, in the case of EA) has only provided you with a limited time-frame and a limited number of coworkers. Either you can cut corners and do everything you wanted, or you can take the time and polish the most important parts of your game. The latter seems to be the better choice to me. But it probably pisses off a lot of programmers when they're not given the adequate resources to make the game they envisioned.

Offline multiplayer is something that you cant say is always a must. Many games like Bwii will not really work offline for multiplayer. You need the whole screen to do it right. I bet that MOH will be the same way.

A LOT of people complained each time a FPS didn't include online for the Wii. Personally, Idon't really care so much as I also enjoy playing with people in the same room much more than people I don't even know. In any case, you can get Vanguard instead, or even RedSteel, both are pretty fun for offline multiplayer.

Ah, and yes, I do care about offline multiplayrm despitesome people saying "nobody cares for offline multiplaying"...

No, the reason is because there just isn't a whole lot to the game.

why cant it have ofline:question:RRR23

Because in order to maximize the online multiplayer, and the single player experience something had to be sacrificed. Devs have limits to what they can do, and making solid single player and online modes have stretched them as far as they can go.

well thats just too bad. maybe they'll add offline...its not like offline ever looks any good - graphics are always dumbed down and level designs are somewhat less so they could always slip it in. if they don't well , we're just hoping nfs prostreet has both..cause nfs w/o an offline mode would just suck.

oh yea, someone said "they'd doubt that family would want a game that shoots each other up", i say, u don't have any cuzins do u?

Oh yeah, mottorstorm really flopped hard because that's the number one selling PS3 game in Australia. I LIKE your thinknig! *rolls eyes*

I think that online focus is a great direction. But the visuals REALLY do need to improve. The sand textures are terrible...

Seriously Sam the Second Encounter all the way baby! 8) Sorry guys, a bit OT I know. But anywho, as edd has said, if the onlines superb, I wont mind one bit.

One thing though I am not so happy with it the graphics...they look very dated.
