Wii GHIII to have offline-only multiplayer
In April, RedOctane president and cofounder Kai Huang revealed in the same breath that Guitar Hero III: Rock the Legends would be coming to the Nintendo Wii in addition to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2 versions, and that it would have online multiplayer. It would now appear those statements were mutually exclusive. Speaking to UK gaming site Pro-G, Huang bluntly stated, "There is online for the PS3 and Xbox 360. There won't be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in."

the wii was my first option for gh3because ofthe added sound and rumble from the wii-mote

but lack of online muti isn't enough for me to lean towards it

i guess i'll be purchasing it for the 360 instead

That article is from January, people. Guitar Hero III has online multiplayer for all platforms. That was confirmed like a month ago. Also, note the Nintendo WiFi Connection logo on the packaging art.

Top left corner, by the way. And if that's not enough proof, click on the link on that page. REDOCTANE'S site...

but yeah, you're right...there's probably no online.

and?

With a game like guitar hero, it's fun with friends...in the same room...with no opportunity for a network error to introduce lag into the mix. I'll take my GH without online multiplayer, thanks.

Yeah, I made that point yesterday.

Why play a casual game online anyway?

If there's a WiFi logo on the box (and there is) then that means we atleast get the song download feature, and one can only assume multiplayer as well. The article posted on gonintendo yesterday was dug up from January and reposted today by Gamespot. Should have been a Rumor Control article, not official news.

not being able to download new songs is what sucks.

1) I think there's a difference between playing online, and downloading songs online.

2) The Wii doesn't have enough memory for so many songs (especially if you have VC games as well)

3) It HAS been confirmed online, as with my previous post. It comes from Red Octane's website.

From RedOctane's site in the Wii bundle product info section :

Rock Out Online Or Party Offline
Defeat opponents to achieve legendary status in head-to-head competition including the all new guitar battle or share the glory with a friend in the new co-op career mode.

Considering how many people are engraged at having to pay five bucks for three songs you could consider the lack of the microtransactions a blessing. Especially since most people just want one song out of each three song pack.

As for the wii vc memory ah guess what the song packs according to xbox users are 30 megs considering you can redownload any vc purchase it becomes a moot point.

I'd rather have the option on paying another 5 bucks for 1 song then have no option at all.

this is getting rediculous. i wouldn't care that much if it had no online multiplayer. i'm just worried if it'll have downloadable content so it'll have more replay value. this has got to be the most confusing game news ever.

Yeah, it's not over yet. Nintendo wouldn't let a game like this without online play,
