Here's the final design
To you think it needs a second analog stick? Well the touch screen can always act as one.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
No definitely not. I think in most cases it wouldnt even be needed at all. It might help in the slightest at times.
So how did the analog stick handle at E3? pretty well. considering how traumatized i am because of the PSP, i was really surprised. it's like using the D-pad, but having 360 buttons to press :P so it's fine, it's comfy and it's responsive.[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"]the second analog not only is completely unecessary, it would make the button layout way too cluttered.ZIVX
I think it will be a problem. Dual analogs is the standard way of navigating a 3D environment. One for movement, the other for the camera. Maybe the touch screen can compensate?? Anyways, don't be surprised if the new psp has dual analogsGunSmith1_basic
You can still get decent camera control without a second analog stick. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days had you use the shoulder buttons to rotate the camera as well as lock on to targets, and that worked pretty well. I'm pretty sure Ocarina of Time 3D's camera will work just fine as well.
A huge problem
The lack of it makes the new DS archaic before it's ever released. The system's specs are still up in the air (I don't trust IGN's lowballing of the specs) and you would think that it would like to do more then 2D games yet with only one analog stick that's impossible to be done well.
Because of the limited control options the 3DS can't be much more then what the DS is and that's sad
No because most of the Nintendo DS games are platformers and roleplaying games so i dont see the need for it really.

When they invent an invisible hand and stylus that will help
Until then it's a problem

the same hand that will be using the touch screen as a second analog is the hand that would be busy using the second analog as a second analog. and i don't see anyone complaining that they need 3 hands to play with 2 analogs.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="Eragon3131"]

Sometimes you don't need to adjust cameras at all. It is hardly a problem.

Well the 3DS is a different handheld with better graphics capabilities and a more different library. I can guarantee that it will usher in more 3D games and to interact with the 3-Dimensional environments you would need that whole 360 degress. No because most of the Nintendo DS games are platformers and roleplaying games so i dont see the need for it really.

The question is do we need another stick for let's say, camera control?

I hear ya and it might come in handy every now and then, but I don't think its a big deal. If you think about really well done camera systems in games you will probably remember little to no camera movement needed. And the 3DS will provide plenty functionality to move the camera every now and then. i personally am not too worried about this.
