Normal DS or DS Lite

Which do you think is better? The original DS or DS Lite?:question:

Im starting to get sick of these threads... there just pointless. Its obvious! lite of-course, just look at any review between the 2!cruxe

C'mon don't be hard on him/her. It appears they haven't been around the forums much (looking at post count and level) so I'm guessing they didn't know these threads show up all of the time.  Plus they just wanted some opinions. 

The original DS is larger and thus more manly. It's also silver which is the sexiest color any game system can be. The original DS is a really sexy beast unlike it's puny unmanly successor. Plus, I got my DS on the launch day so I've attached a lot of sentimental value to it. S2 Naturally, the DS Lite is superior in most ways as more energy efficient and has superior lighting as well as a more logical microphone placement. However, the DS Lite is weaker to abuse should an accident befall it and it's less manly for the aforementioned reasons. :PFiefdom

lol, not to mention the speakers aren't as good as the NDS ones :[.  I wish the Lite had nice speakers, eh the only real big drawback IMO. 

to voice my opinion. I just think its a stupid question... like asking someone if they would prefer a ps2 or a ps2 slimline, a GB advanced or a GB advance SP...and im not having a go at anyone im just saying its obvious. cruxe

I actually prefer the PS2 over the Slim one.  They don't have obvious answers, like someone else posted, they like the NDS better than the NDS Lite. 

I boought myself a Lite a week ago (LOVE it). I have been looking around at older game reviews and stuff so I can catch up on some things I missed. I came across pics of the original DS many times in doing so. Seeing those pics reminded me why I didnt want a DS when it came out...it was so damn ugly. Seriously, the original DS was the ugliest handheld ever made. I could kick myself for waiting so long to get a DS, but man, it was ugly at first.

BTW: Agents are GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I own a DS Lite and have only used the original DS in shops but i love my Lite and find it to be alot better then the original in game play and in feel of it.

@cruxe - It's not obvious that the DS lite is better, I personally prefer the GB advance alot more then the SP as well as the original PS2, newer does't always mean better.

I thought they should have just added a backlight to the original GBA instead of reshaping it and then adding the light. Maybe Nintendo was just readying people for the DS form. Who knows

I agree, adding a backlight to the orginal and maybe improving the shape to fit better in your hand would have been a much better improvment then the redesign, I guess I understand them wanting people to get used to a lid for the DS with the SP though. 

Well if the original was better, Why would Nintendo make the Lite?!?

I own a PHAT but have played a lite and I still prefer my PHAT. The Lite is like a TOY compared to the PHAT. The old PHAT can take a lot of punishment and still work perfectly fine, unlike the Lite.

And you never hear Phat people complaining about broken hinges and dead pixels. PHAT IS WHERE IT'S AT!

Well i guess it is just my opinion then :P i liked the SP better only because it had the back-light and you could close it (protecting the screen) although i thought the normal advaced looked better design wise. but i still dont understand how you could like an original ps2 to a slimline... i have an original and have considered buying a slimline many times, i just think there more practical (smaller, lighter, look better) owell just my opinions i spose.cruxe

Because I put all of the last gen consoles next to each other, and all of the next gen consoles next to each other (and the NES and SNES in a completely other room), so a slim system just doesn't match with a bulky Xbox, and a very cubish Gamecube.  lol that's my reason :P.
