From this article: http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/theconduit/news.html?sid=6197054&mode=previews

What am I paying $50 for 9 missions set to last about 10 hours and multiplayer that will, despite getting Wii Speak and WiiMotionPlus, only 3 modes of multiplayer: DM, TDM, and CTF? Every FPS multiplayer game has these 3 modes!! This hands on update did not convinced me to want The Conduit. On the contrary I'm less likely to get it now than a was a few minutes ago.

Furthermore, as I have stated all along, The All Seeing Eye is nothing more than The Lens of Truth from Zelda: Ocarina of Time being implemented on a FPS game. Aliens going through portals, is definitely not original.

I've lost hope for The Conduit after today's update.

People will buy it because its on the wii. Is it generic? Yes. Is it (maybe, ain't out yet can't tell) worse than many other FPS out there? Sure but the thing is these other FPS aren't on wii they're on other systems. All Conduit really has to compete with is MOH and if they fail to beat that then they've failed pretty hard considering all the hype. There's virtually no competition on wii for this game and thats why it will probably succeed.

Maybe it'll be the best DM, TDM, and CTF ever and you'll bite your tounge. Who knows?

It's only got 8 levels because the first level is going to be the tutorial level

So that's like just under 9 hours?

That's not bad for a shooter, I mean I doubt many people will do the speed run through it.

wiifan001

What did you expect? It's the modern trend making games shorter. Gears of War 2 will likely have 5 hours of single player. 10 hours is big time for a shooter these days.

Furthermore, as I have stated all along, The All Seeing Eye is nothing more than The Lens of Truth from Zelda: Ocarina of Time being implemented on a FPS game.

wiifan001

Which is great and never done before if you think about it. I call this a strong point instead of a weak spot.

Really, I'm positive many will ultimately be disappointed about this game, but these are not the reasons why this will happen.

well considering you have 2 other FPS on the system,(one of which is a FPA at heart) you really should learn the old saying....

High Voltage had stated we're getting something BIG out of The Conduit. With practically nothing innovative in it, very low multiplayer game modes, and little replay value to The Conduit in terms of single player, I'm not seeing the big thing High Voltage promised us.

And why does it seem that FPS games get shorter and shorter over time? I mean look at Goldeneye and Perfect Dark compared to like Call of Duty, Halo 3, Metroid Prime 3 (yes I know it's an FPA), etc. And nothing was stated about multiple difficulty levels for The Conduit either. I think 9 hours or so, even though there are a couple little things in addition to it, is not a satisfying length.

I don't know about MGS4 but none of the other MGS games added cut-scene time to your overall gameplay time.

Yeah, they're giving Wii users a generic FPS, that's no surprise

I don't mind ten hours, it'll last about a week and then if you want to play online you have like another week to play it.

Yeah!! That's why I'm not paying $50. And another thing I didn't see anything mentioned about co-op play. Where's that?

1. MP3 had well over 20 hours of gameplay, I don't know why you're complaining... :?

2. I don't remember HVS stating that The Conduit will only support 3 modes, but that they wanted to perfect those before seeing if they could add more.

3. They stated during demos that the difficulty was set to easy, so it's safe to assume there WILL be different difficulty levels.

The Conduit isn't really all that outstanding, but it is still a good effort by a small 3rd party, and it really stands out because of the dearth of available options on the Wii. Still, that's not to say it won't be an enjoyable game, but it's definitely no Gears 2.

The game has bump mapping. That's enough for me tog et excited about a game on the Wii. Most FPS' don't last more than 10 hours anyway. I have pretty high hopes for this game....

  • yeah 10 hours is plenty. I'm fine with that.
  • hooray! for wii speak and motion plus being confirmed.
  • as well as the on-line, combined with a sci-fi FPS with the appeal of using the Wii Remote to move your target reticule rather than managing two analog sticks this could be great.

The Conduit isn't an innovative game, it's just a generic online FPS for the Wii. That's what everybody should expect it to be like.

I don't know about MGS4 but none of the other MGS games added cut-scene time to your overall gameplay time.

If it took you 24 hours to play through MGS4 WITHOUT the cutscenes, you are not very good at MGS! It took me about 7 hours w/ out cutscenes, and about 17 with.

Yeah, very true. Red steel had so much promise, but it just did not deliver. As for the Conduit, so the shooter will be 10 hours for the single player mode, that is the usual fare. Most will want to get to the multiplayer anyway, especially online. I am just glad to see a thrid party taking a game seriously on the Wii. Hopefully High voltage will have a hit and other 3rd parties will follow suit.

i can't wait for this game, now i won't have to go over to my friends' houses when i want to play a competetive fps online, "MOHH:2 didn't seem that great to me it's a generic world war 2 shooter a genre WAAYYY more bloated than sci-fi shooter, plus i'm looking for quality over quantity with the single player

You read my mind wolf, though I wouldn't be so drastic (lies). The game is not likely in pre-alpha, more like in pre-beta if not further.

If this game fails than Wii will have lost hope for a good fps for awhile. This is kind of the defining game for Wii fps's right now.
