Deciding not to buy a game that you were interested in because of one or two review scores isn't very smart. First of all 7/10 is a good score. The average game is reviewed in the lo 6's. Second, you should seek more opinions and form your own ideas about the game.

You're quite right. If a game I'm interested gets consistently bad or average critic/customer reviews, I'll usually still rent it. Its when I think a game looks great AND the critics love it that I go out and buy it immediately.
So I'll definitely rent Tomb Raider either way, but I won't go out and purchase it on a whim. I never played any of the TR games even when I owned PS1 way back when, so I don't really know what to expect at all.
