Deciding not to buy a game that you were interested in because of one or two review scores isn't very smart. First of all 7/10 is a good score. The average game is reviewed in the lo 6's. Second, you should seek more opinions and form your own ideas about the game.
the actual game itself is great fun. I chose to get it on a different platform for controls and presentation. Platform perks aside, the game itself is hot stuff. Tomb Raider, that is.

You're quite right. If a game I'm interested gets consistently bad or average critic/customer reviews, I'll usually still rent it. Its when I think a game looks great AND the critics love it that I go out and buy it immediately.
So I'll definitely rent Tomb Raider either way, but I won't go out and purchase it on a whim. I never played any of the TR games even when I owned PS1 way back when, so I don't really know what to expect at all.
