I have pokemon.

I heard that NSMB is REALLY short and can be beaten in a few hours, while Yoshi island is much longer and worth the money length wise.

nsmb is shorter than yoshi. nsmb has more levels but yoshis are alot longer
NSMB is better for all those reasons. It is long, but once finished it gets boring (but hey, same 4 YI ) . You should really get Pokemon though.360player
NSMB is NOT long and can be burned through in a few hours even if you collect every single Star Coin and go the optional routes. NSMB is too easy to be that much fun and due to unoriginal level design and worthless new power ups, nostalgia isn't very strong when playing it. Lastly, will pokefans just be quiet and allow posters to ask a question without interjecting with unrelated suggestions.
Mario is fun, but Yoshi's Island will last you longer, give you a greater challenge, has higher replay value and a more rewarding experience. Go with Yoshi. Â
not sure about the others opinions
but i like yoshi's island a lot more. its boss fights are way better or atleast way more creative. level design is far more depth nad creativity, its also way longer than anything offered in NSMB. also the gameplay has more variety (like yoshi turning into helicopters to fly to places etc.) and the use of different babies' abilities can be interesting.
NSMB has all the same old stuff a mario platformer should be expected to have, which is good, but i still like yoshi's island better.
Yoshi Island is longer, harder, and better. NSMB just didn't cut it, it was short and shallow. But then again, you should just read my reviews of the games, since they will tell you more about the games then I want to in this post. Yoshi Island DS(9.5), NSMB(9.3).bededogNSMB didnt cut it(short and shallow).  Yet you gave it a 9.3?

I don't have Yoshi's Island but I do have New Super Mario Bros., and I beat it in four hours. And this is coming from someone who likes to take their time with video games. :?Aquat1cF1sh
I think this is a case of a game being completely overrated. Gamespots excessively high score doesn't help either. Mario isn't a bad game, but it's not the phenomenon players are making it out to be. People tend to repeat what they're told rather than making up their own minds.Â
Yoshi's Island is MUCH longer (maybe 15-20 hours vs. 5-10 hours for NSMB)
NSMB is slightly "funner" to me, but I may be biased growing up on Mario. Yoshi Island is also incredibly fun too, but I'd give a slight edge to NSMB on that category.
They're both worth the money, but Yoshi Island will last you alot longer.

Just because it is short and a bit shallow doesn't mean it isn't a good game. When NSMB came out there wasn't anything like it on the DS and I gave it a good score because it was better then most. But no compared to Yoshi Island DS NSMB isn't nearly as good. NSMB had great graphics, and level design. I just think it was a bit short, and honestly what platformer isn't a little shallow in areas?
I would say Yoshi's island ds by far.

im not really an addictive gameplayer but i can tell u ive probobly played yids for about 40 hours over 5 months and still havent finished it with 2 levels to go. its no that i can finish it it just the minigames and life up gams are really fun and are great to play for 10 minutes in the car etc.
