So I'm going to pick up a Wii in a week or so. (finally.... :P)
I was wondering if this is worth it. Anyone here have it and can give an opinion on it?

[QUOTE="Kaze_no_Mirai"]How have both of your experiences been with it?leondx
I would also like to know this.
i had mine for 6 weeks it works well
Do not get a charge station, they're a waste of money compared to rechargeable batteries. They don't last as long as regular rechargeables either (each use or their overall lifespan).
Get a recharger and 4 AA's for less then 30 dollars and you'll be set. The only thing to make sure about is that the batteries are rated 2500 or higher. The higher that number the longer they'll last. (see in the top right hand corner of the picture?)

The main problem with the charge stations is that batteries can't think so each time you rest the Wiimote back on it's cradle it charges it no matter if it needs it or not. So let's say you play the Wii for 15 mins then go off to do something else and put it back on the charge station, it uses one charge to get the battery back up to 100%. Since ALL rechargeable batteries have about 500 uses before they start to show signs of use (you can charge then 1000 times overall though) think how many wasted charges you'll use over the course of owning it.
Rechargeable batteries on the other hand can be charged when you need them charged so you don't have to worry about wasted charges, since the Wii itself tells you if the batteries are low there's no problem knwoing when you need to recharge them.
Plus think of things like the Wii Balance Board. THings like that are going to need batteries and if you decide to get those add ons all you need to do is just buy another set of batteries.
Rechargeables are a better investment

I third this.[QUOTE="the_leet_kid"]If you wanted to preserve charges, you could just not put them in the stand when you're done playing...Jaysonguy
What's the point of buying something that holds them then?
For the rechargeable battery packs. I'm not saying it's better, but it's pretty much the same concept as the AA's.
Heh, I just got me that exact recharger-battery kit for my digital camera.
Are the Wii remotes perfectly finewith the NiMH batteries? Camera only needs the 2, and the pack comes with 4, was thinking about using the extra 2 in my primary controller if the controller is perfectly compatible with them.
(nothing worse than the smell of leaking battery acid in the morning)
There are batteries called Sanyo Eneloop, and I have them. They work great, and keep charged for a year while idle (if you have 2 or more Wiimotes and only use the other ones when other people come over). I highly reccomend checking them out. Also, on a side note, they are recyclable, if the environment is important to you that is. They last for hours, I've only had to charge them twice in a month, and I play every day.
But really any rechargable is good in my books. Those charger stations suck once the battery life is dead, and you can't buy just the battery to replace the dead ones (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
Its a terrible pile of crap. I had one, one of the batteries that come with it wouldnt hold a charge period. The charge that the working one did hold was not very long. My friend also bought one, and one of the batteries would not hold a charge no matter what, we tried all kinds of silly tricks to make sure it was getting proper contact etc. Its a pile of junk and anyone who tells you otherwise is either not paying attention or is easily satisified by a battery that barely lasts.
One more thing..Nintendo specifically states that you should not use rechargable batteries with the Wii remotes and that it may pose a hazard.

I third this. This looks like the way to go, and I may get these myself. One question though, how does it charge? Just stick the batteries into the device and plug it into the wall? Since I see no plug or cord of anysort, I am curious. Thanks.
