Getting 9-12 hrs with no extra bulk from the power pak is a must have for me. Imagine being in bed off tv with Monster Hunter, you need the extra battery life.

I just realised that if you buy both then you will get 12-16 hrs of battery life for the Gamepad. Damn.

I don't think so. The Uboost attaches to the gamepad so you don't open anything

The Powerpak you need to open the battery cover to replace the battery but Nintendo seemed to make it easy to replace because the battery compartment has two easy to access screws, there are no void stickers and the current battery is very easy to detach and replace and there is extra sapce for the new battery.

Nintendo left extra space on purpose. But if you are scared the Uboost looks like a great alternative.

Already have the Powerpak reserved from my GameStop, cannot wait until it comes in. At $25 seems like a great deal to triple the battery life and my wife has been very pleased with the PowerGrip for her 3DS.

Will it charge with stock Nintendo charger? I'm confused too, its say 3x in one point, than twice the play time in another? Would you expect 6 or 9 hours out of this?

There are two different products, the Power Pak and Uboost.

The Power Pak is just a battery, like a cell phone battery. You need to unscrew (2 screws) the plate at the back and take out the old battery and replae it with the new one. The Power Pak gives you 3 times the battery life so if you get 3 - 4 hours on the old battery then you will get 9-12 on the Power Pak

The next product is the Uboost which only attaches to the controller. You attach it and screw it in the back of the controller. Nothing is taken apart like the Power Pak. This solution gives you 2 times the battery life so that is 6-8 hrs.

The two products use the orginal charger that the Wii U came with.

Smart move by Nyko. The Power Pak may be one of the best accessories I have ever seen by a third party.

I'm surprised you brought me up as if I'm an isolated case, there are a lot of people that have an issue with the Wii U's battery life. It just took time for people to go and buy a Wii U to find out they hated it.

I also don't patrol these forums, nor do I come to Gamespot.com much anymore. So, it's not like I would see this thread daily, and I already knew about this product long ago anyways.

As far as "major haters of battery life", clearly there is a lot more than me. Case in point : This product exists, a market exists to fix the problem.

To answer, I bought my Wii U at launch about half a year ago, so the turnaround time has been really super slow for this product's arrival. My care levels are incredibly low now. I only buy exclusives for my Wii U, so I'm waiting for a reason to turn it on again.

It's also because I don't like these cheap knock off products, and I like Nintendo produced peripherals. Nyko is okay, but the main issue is that I don't use the Wii U much anymore, there isn't any exclusive retail games to play.

I haven't turned my Wii U on for a long while, like many people that bought it at launch...so I'm in no rush to fix my issues with the battery life anymore. I'll just deal with it, like I did waggle on Wii, when I have to. My excitement is gone. The Wii U gamepad turns off? I'll just go work out, or turn on another machine.

I'm waiting for this year's Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 until 2013 is over. They keep getting delayed.

What the F***? I politely answered your calling me in here, I didn't troll...and you decide to insult me for answering? I'm a Nintendo fakeboy now? Why? I post at playstation4life now? Why? None of this makes sense. In my post ABOVE, where did you make these assumptions? I didn't insult you at all, even though you deserved it for bringing me up. You need to stop confusing me with whoever it is you dislike. More like I knew you were a hardcore rabbid Nintendo super fan that can't acknowledge anyone else's opinions! Jeez! I didn't even blast the Wii U or Troll you at all. I certainly didn't mention any other gaming machines.

I reside in AV forums btw, along with movie forums, workout forums, and a few other all around gaming forums like Game Informer, Giantbomb, IGN, etc.

YOU BROUGHT ME UP out of the blue in this thread!!!! I don't run around threads spamming "KBFloYdis this and that!!!! (even though we both know your online reputation isn't clearly that great). I simply answered you (even though I wasn't in this thread or forum), and I answered this thread about this offbrand product. I also spoke on the Wii U's current GAMING status in my home. I have two Wii Us, and it's quite a shame I am not compelled to game on them right now. NINTENDO is making us wait...but I expected this. I'm a longtime Nintendo fan that has come to many realizations over the years.

You don't want to hear it, so go pop in another multiplat or launch game and pretend everything is hunky dory. It's fine by me.

You got it all backwards, I go where the games I like go. Right now, that would be PC (some GBA and 360), last month it was Wii U (some Wii), month before that Wii (Xeno!!!), Month before that PS2 (some PC and Wii U), month before that 360 (some Wii U, DS), month before that it was Wii U (some PS3), month before that DS and PC. I go where the games go. Right now, Nintendo Wii U is not living up to what I expect, but I KNOW that will change at some time. I remember this kind of drag when I first got my N64 and Gamecube. I am upset they keep delaying Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101, especially because I wanted those games more than the Wii U Launch games.

You need to stop associating brands with insults. These are just pieces of plastic we hook to a Monitor to get a little entertainment while stuck on a mudball revolving around a giant gas ball. Who gives a flying f***. :P

I bought two Wii U's, I expect great things. My hardcore PC, 360, and PS friends refuse to buy a Wii U. Fakeboys don't spend money buying Nintendo machines, or buying them at launch when it's the worst time to buy. I have been with Nintendo since the NES, even before that in the arcades and Atari. I have Mario Bros. On Atari. Nintendo are amazing...but even the NES and SNES had down time between wonderful games. That's when I played other games and machines even the PC, Sega Master System, Genesis, Turbo, Gameboy, Gamegear, Saturn, etc. That doesn't make me a Nintendo non fan, it just means you define loyalty to Nintendo differently than I do. Make no mistake, I have more Nintendo exclusive games in my collection than you, as we spoke about in your blog once.

I really want to see third-party Game Pads. Imagine a nice, more portable controller with a 4.5 inch touch screen and 15-20 hours of battery life.

long post...that could be said in 1 sentence..

SolidTy

i took your response as hateful...first your saying you havnt played it for months...like its useless or something..when in fact you didnt buy any games for it. thats why you havnt touched it since launch fakeboy. because you'd rather play them on your ps3... what's wrong with buying multiplats on wiiU? seriously... this is you "i buy nintendo systems for only for games i cant get on my beloved ps3.."

you could have answered like a true manticore that you claim to be. you could of said... no, that battery sucks and doesn't interest me. or..it looks ok but im fine with the way things are now. but no... you have to bring your whole nintendo is only for nintendo games bias in here. whats worse is you wrote 3 paragrahps when 2 sentences would have sufficed.

oh and...

youre a nintendo fakeboy because you buy their stuff and pretend to like them but do nothing but talk sh!t about them on forums.
i looked at all your posts on the here on the wiiU forum and they all ALL negative...never do i see you praising them to the heavens..yet on the ps3 and playstation related products i see nothing but praise and hype from you... that's why your a nintendo fakeboy.

long post...that could be said in 1 sentence..

Do you know even how to stay on topic?

You literally don't know what the f*** you are talking about. :? I have said only amazing things about Wonderful 101. I have said repeatedly great things about New Super Mario U. I said I bought a Wii U for W101 and Pikmin 3. I can't HYPE anymore Wii U exclusive RETAIL games because NINTENDO won't tell me which ones to HYPE! Duh.  I'm waiting for E3, and guess what, then I can HYPE more games when NINTENDO shows me new exclusive retail games to HYPE. it's a pretty simple process. My games I have been telling users I bought a Wii U for have been repeatedly delayed. I haven't been HYPIng much of anything this year other than W101 anyways.

This topic is about Nyko's Power pak, not me, u fanboy to the extreme. You are a crazy fanboy to come up with all that stuff you made up, most likely to troll and get a response (here you go), but no where in this thread should you have posted any of that...I was going to debunk your post with links to my posts, but I realized what's the point? You clearly are mad crazy and can't stand anyone else that doesn't worship Nintendo the way you do. You waste money buying 3DS, then 3DSXL (now you are considering buying a 3DS again), buying e-shop multiplat games (that are cheaper on other machines) and retail multiplats that are more expensive on Wii U with less online functionality. You went so far as to buy a HDD to hook to the Wii U and REBUY games you own on Wii U in Digital Form! What the...It's nuts because I know you don't have all the machines and you haven't played all the best games out there. Games you would love but ignore because they aren't on some piece of plastic you worship. You would rather play mediocre low scoring average multiplatform late port games as long as you can do it on a Nintendo platform. If it doesn't ever release? Who needs it! If it does? Finally, you always wanted it!!! It's not a good game unless it's on that system for you. It's strange. No matter how many pictures I post of my collection, it won't matter, you are going bananas. :P

I will say this, true Xbox, PC, and PS fans wouldn't dare touch or buy a Wii U, they think it's an overpriced pile of donkey crap and laugh at all of us that bought one at launch. They wouldn't dare buy every mario, Metroid and Zelda game in existence. They mock the GC, they hate Mario and call it childish (I play and own every Mario game), they hate the Wii. The Wii U they pray goes down in flames and ends Nintendo. I don't believe them nor do I ever post that drivel, but clearly you have me pegged for some idiot that must bully you in RL or something.

Yeah, I'm the guy defending my Wii, Wii U purchases at school and work...joy. I tell them to consider picking one up, and I invite them to my house to try out the Wii U at a BBQ I'm hosting. Because I know those guys want to label me as the kind of uber Nintendonutz fan you post like here, so I'm torn between worlds. I'm definitely not crazy like you, but I'm not a hater like them. having posters like you out there don't make it easier engaging them in conversations about Nintendo. You make some bad spending choices as far as I can tell, but I don't run around trolling you for it, but maybe I should and maybe you'd learn.

You need to seriously slow your roll and realize that the fakeboys are the ones that don't have the machines, don't have the games, don't worship Miyamoto. I smashed many machines when they came out, including the PS3 when it came out, and I'm hard on my stuff when it's new because I want to improve them. That's it. You don't deserve links proving anything because you won't listen. Where are these posts you speak of? You are crazy man. I hardly post in the PS forums, I post more in Unions. I visit Legacy, Primary, SW, OT, 360, PC, and GS Technical Support. I come to GS mostly for unions. Besides SW, when I'm at GS, I visit unions and come in this forum the most as of yet because the Wii U is my newest consoel purchase.

What about you? What makes you so special?!

I look back at my post in this thread, and I have to laugh at how it got you so offended. My goodness, it's like you are Nintendo's your real life family and I insulted your family. ;)

There are many issues with multiplats on Wii U, namely the biggest one is Online Functionality, but the issue of LATE PORTS is bad. I don't like the pricing on the LATE PORTS either. It would assume I didn't already play the hell out of the game before the Wii U released. It's also not designed well for the Tablet, which makes playing it on Wii U a waste of time imo, as I already experienced the game way before. I also don't like the idea of wearing out my Wii U's with multiplatform companies games that aren't designed for the Wii U in mind. I want the Tablet UTILIZED, and I won't support half a$$ed jobs for a quick buck (you are the opposite, giving money to greedy companies that are being lazy with ports). Online functionality on the Wii U is also a big deterrent as I mentioned (DLC not supported, or poorly supported, Nintendo Network ID limits, small amount of users, no wireless headset options, poor chat options, lack of my friends owning one, etc). Pricing on these multiplats are also poor, just because they are on Wii U they think the game should be $60 for a late port (EA, Acti, Ubi, WB, etc.). :o

You should take a chill pill and LEARN TO RESPOND TO THE TOPIC AT HAND. You have a tendency to avoid things you don't want to hear, change the subject, and throw out insults when you don't get your way. It's juvenile, and it doesn't do you any favors. RELAX Don't DO IT...when you want to come... and realize YOU BROUGHT ME UP in a stupid offbrand NYKO thread, and I responded. You shouldn't have brought me up then, if you didn't want to hear my reasons.

As the other poster said, you are rude....and I'm saying this, you are rabbidly off topic. The Wii U offers fantastic potential to gamers, but stop being so blind to the flaws that are right in front of your face.

I wasn't even in this topic until the troll joker uber-fanboy brought me up summoning me here, and I was nice enough to stay on topic but the trolling and lies kept coming.

I'll try again.

I'm glad Nyko has stepped up to the battery plate...I'll be very excited when Nintendo announces something along these lines.

I'll wait till replacement gamepads is available to be purchase, incase this battery pack blows up taking the gamepad with it. :P

I really want to see third-party Game Pads. Imagine a nice, more portable controller with a 4.5 inch touch screen and 15-20 hours of battery life.

:D I'd be willing to give it a go if it had ^ all that :D

The battery life sucks, but I wouldn't use 3rd party accessories on the gamepad.

Thanks.

Yea I wish Nintendo would make a battery that at least takes up the entire compartment too. I'll pick up one of these Nyko products at launch. The Nyko Power Grip on 3DS is amazing so I may go with the Uboost.

I still wish Nintendo had put a battery extender in the Circle Pad Pro for 3DS. Its such an obvious idea that I'm shocked they haven't done it.
