Hey guys I need help. I have not been using my Wii for almost a month now & it's like 2 months Old & the play time is like 6 hours I think. Anyway I turned it on today to play smash & the weird thing is I'm getting a weird pixelated screen on the menu & the games itself does anybody know what is wrong?

Well could your inside of your Wii be damaged? Possibly dropped? Or dusty? Just some suggestions.

Is it near a sub woofer? Have you had it exposed to the sun? What is the temp in the room?

Well it sits besides my PS2 & Xbox, & the only thing that could get dust into it is the gamecube controller port w/c I left open. It hasn't been dropped or anything it is like brand new condition because after testing it when I got it I never actually played with the thing for more than 1 hour.

Can you mostly see the screen but there are little patches of flickering pixels? If so, your Wii's GPU is probably baked. You'll need to call Nintendo for service.

Sancroff
Yup that's it like flickering vertical lines of pixels on the bottom sides of the screen. How do you know this? & It's covered by the warranty right?

Yes. From what I've read it is a problem with the heatsink not being mounted properly.

Sancroff

Which is a manufactoring error that crops up whenever they up the production numbers. It's only a small percent of wiis.

"sits besides my PS2 & Xbox,"

Those produce lots of heat you need to keep the consoles seperate from one another and make sure there is enough air flow plus cold air coming in. Put in a small space fan to circulate air and remove hot air from the area. A small space fan is much better then any supposed cooling fan addon to a console.

the wiiconnect is a feature that allows the wii to be able to connect to the net 24/7, to download things and updates and other stuff like maps etc in the future. however nintendo didnt realise that prolonged time in standby mode will cause damage to the motherboard. so if your not using it its wise to turn the standby mode off in the settings, and its under the internet settings button

Wiiconnect24 doesn't damage the wii. It just causes the faulty heatsink issue to reveal itself faster. Read your manual to know what wiiconnect24 is.

Functioning heatsinks on a wii in a room that isn't hades or with stodgy air never has the issue even with wiiconnect24 being on for two years.

Have you left the Wii in standby mode this whole time i.e. the Wii has a yellow light?

Wrong. Only wiis with defective heatsinks were affected. Those defective wiis also had the same issue on wiis that never had wiiconnect24 active. It just took those wiis longer to show the issue. The same issue also occurs on pc video cards. It's not the motherboard if it was the whole system would shut down.

The wii is designed to use wiiconnect24. Please learn truth instead of falsities.

Nintendo is not Microsoft. Nintendo does tons of testing and design. The wii took a billion dollars in research and development.

because of the dual layered disc the Wii has to have a clean disc drive, dust probably got into it and now you're wii can't read the disc. Nintendo offers to clean out your wii for free so just don't clean it yourself!

It's an internal heat issue. If your Wii is defective, leaving stand by ON will only cause the malfunction to occur more quickly. Leaving it OFF will only put off the malfunction, but the damage will eventually occur either way.

I had this exact same thing happen to my first Wii, I called Nintendo, they replaced it.

My new Wii has been on stand by for almost 6 months straight(sitting between my PS2 and Xbox, I might add) with no issue.

What about the virtual games I had on it will they replace it too?
