Now I'm gonna be honest and say I've been a die-hard supporter of the Wii since its, well, its inception, if you will.  But now I am starting to get a little annoyed.  I know-Metroid, Galaxy, and Brawl will have no trouble calming me, but every other game, every other developer, let's go now: we need to up the graphics.  It's been said and proven that the Wii is roughly two times the power of Gamecube, more powerful than the original Xbox (I heard a little more than 1.5 times as powerful...can't remember the source for that info).  So developers:  let's start seeing it.  I mean, I LOVE my Wii, and I love playing it.  But let's go people...the controller cannot save the games anymore.  We've seen what the controller can do, and that's a lot.  Now push the power of the system to its limits (look at what Naughty Dog did with the PS2...Jak 3 is amazing looking).  I am sick of this second-rate attitude toward graphics.  If you're going to have 480p and wide-screen, give me something good.  Hell, I even liked Spider-Man 3, but COME ON.  Disappearing textures?  Botched animations?  Let's go...I am starting to get annoyed.

And I know...I will have people bashing the system COMPLETELY...I hate fanboys.

I for one am very pleased with the graphics of the Nintendo Wii games such as Metroid 3,Brawl,Galaxy and so(and those aren't even finished yet so the screens will get prettier)

I'm really worried about the third party support.I just hope soon developers will get to handle the hardware better and make games with some decent graphics, atleast better as they're now.Although the gameplay of most games are really awesome.

it is quicker to make ports than originals. 3rd party feeds us quick dirty ports to cash in while they make the "real" games behind the scenes. i predict that early next year or sooner the wii's game library will BOOM with quality games and will officially rule the world. just watch.

as much as i hate talking about graphics.. i agree its not as good as it should be right now.  i haven't seen any sign of improvement yet.  i was expecting to see something before mario galaxy or mp3 but i guess we just have to wait for those to see some of the power unleashed.  well, the wait will be worth it anyway

I'm really not one to complain about graphics, but in the situation, I have to. When you claim to have a console with twice the horsepower of its predecessor that had the ability to produce the graphics of Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4, then for the average Wii game to look comparable to the average to above-average game visuals of its predecessor is inexcusable. I dunno if developers are just being lazy or what. IMO, most games should look no worse than Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4-calibur visual should be the true standard developers should be shooting for if they're indeed working with hardware that has twice the power of that.

Sadly, given how far off Metroid Prime 3 seems to be now, I will not be surprised if its far and away the best looking Wii game when it debuts with only Mario Galaxy looking comparable. That shouldn't happen.  It shouldn't take over a year to produce visuals that are at minimum the calibur of the cream of the crop of a hardware's inferior predecessor.

in my oppinion, the wii is the "cash in zone" or genereally making a ps3 game can cost money, especially to make it look really good, now in the past, theres been no true way of making that money, so they had to actually try harder and put a LOT of effort into making great looking games, (they had to truly work for what they wanted, thus making a better end product)... now what's the quickest ways to make a lot of money really fast, so that you can get back to focusing on the ps3 and 360?... change the controls of a mediocre ps2 game or the controls of an xbox game,  and place them onto a wii disk, and instead of cleaning it up and making it so that things such as textures and such don't just disspear (take spiderman 3 for instance, all they had to do was spend a week or so just cleaning it up) they go and immideately (spelling) sell it, KNOWING that they'll get more money for minimum effort and a game that was/had been made a while back/is a port (which means no true time was wasted)... now of course they can't just say this, so what they do is have "interviews" with major sites (like IGN and or gamespot) and hype up the game, and give enough of a preview, without showing actual gameplay footage... (spiderman3 again) this way everyone is AMPED to buy the game, they get maximum profit and whatever great game they've been working on, once again has a little more then sufficiant funds, and they go onto create a GREAT game using the money they took from us for other systems... then they essentially "rinse and repeat" after everythings died down about the last couple games (from any company) sucking...

hell you want a future example? how about Scarface, this time they're using the Xbox's graphics, now they know that the game sold pretty well until the reviews hit, and everyone found out that SURE the game was alright but wasn't the greatest... now the company whose in charge of making that game, is probably working on something big for another system right now, and they know they need money, so they set a good "trap date" or a date where they can once again recieve "fresh funds"  without having to worry/and without having to much of a surplus, and they've already begun tempting us by stating, Tony's got a chainsaw in this gun, (simular to spidermans, spidey's got the black suit at any time deal, we're just not going to tell you that you can't access it after you beat the game) or even it's (seperated crime system from the rest of the game) Tony's chainsaw, is all you've heard without any details, they allow your mind to believe that it may/could greatly be used whenever and on whoever , when it could just as simply end  up being in the form of some stupid mini game...  anyhow, what'll happen is, a bunch of people will rush to buy this game saying something like OMG scarface is a classic, so the game should be bought on the wii, then you'll have a few people bashing on it before it's even sold, which'll create "anti bashers" these anti bashers reccomend sales, and sales increase even more, now that they have a sufficiant amount of funds from that game, they'll just go and make another systems game even better... :(

I agree, developers definitely need to step it up a notch, not just in graphics but in controls as well. I had fun with the Wii controls for the first couple weeks, but it wears off kind of quick. Also, the lack of a 1:1 ratio of movement between the controller and what goes on on your screen makes a lot of the game's controls feel very underwhelming (main reason why Red Steel's sword fighting failed). People can keep saying that graphics don't matter all they want, but I don't think the gameplay has fully made up for the lack of better graphics yet. It certainly doesn't help that a lot of the current titles are ports from last gen systems or were made with Gamecube kits and sold with a $50 price tag.

Props to Capcom though for pricing RE4 at a reasonable $30. Most of the games out now should have carried the same price tag at release date (I'm looking at you Ubisoft).

Play Red Steel, Sonic Secret of the Rings and SSX Blur those two are already showing a glimpse as to what the Wii can do graphically. Sort of like graphic appetizers until Mario Galaxy, MP3, Dewey Adventure, Treasure Hunter Z and RE:UC.

I agree, but I don't think spiderman 3 is the best example of bad graphicso n the wii, that would be crap on ps2 ffs. I think 3rd parties have been caught with their heads down with the Wii's popularity, give it time, some 3rd parties will realise people want effort put into a game; we will start to get better games with better graphics. I currently have a 360, I think MP:3 looks great. I can't wait 'till E3 now.

Seriously some of the games I mentioned are better looking then Cube. Don't let the excess of quickly ported PS2 shovelware blind one to this. That being said not all third party ported games are bad, Godfather being a good example of this. It may not look great but its fun to play.

well...hopefully E3 will have games that put 3rd party developers on the spot, and force them to get into "full focus"

also

Play Red Steel, Sonic Secret of the Rings and SSX Blur those two are already showing a glimpse as to what the Wii can do graphically. Sort of like graphic appetizers until Mario Galaxy, MP3, Dewey Adventure, Treasure Hunter Z and RE:UC.  komdosina

I don't think Umbrella chronicles is going to look that great... *but that could have something to do with my hatred with Rail shooters* and even if games like red steel, sonic and the rings, and blur do look acceptable  they still took a blow due to their gameplay/controls, Red steel: controls weren't the greatest but the most godawful multiplayer in the world... lol I mean bots or something would've "spiced it up"... sonic... control issues (in my oppinion) I mean I know they were trying to capture his speed and such... it's just that that controller layout/concept didn't work as well as it could've... and it only caught his speed in one direction and it didn't caputure how the oldschool sonic games were addictive....also multiplayer kinda sucked

then there's SSX, great game, bad concept of multiplayer and the whole "catch up" thing.... it totally ruined it for me...

Agreed:  And naturally we can only speak with our dollars.  Personally, I'm holding off on a Wii until NINTENDO PUSHES 3RD PARTIES to ensure some level of quality in their games.  (sorry for the caps)  In this forum we cannot help those who buy first and ask questions later (as insane as that is...) but what we can do is put the responsibility on Nintendo to make sure their wonderful console doesn't get a dumpster-full of bad PS2 ports.

To Nintendo: Ensure innovative and worthwhile 3rd party games or your console will die a very early death.  Plain and simple.
