With all of the 3DS stuff being posted, I never see anyone talking about what they're playing on the good ol' vanilla DS... What have you got going on? You! With the DS Phatty in your hands! Speak up! And YOU, with the DS Lite! Whatz in yer game slot???

Post up what you're playing please! I'm beginning to feel all alone.

:(

"PuzzleQuest" and the re-issued "ChronoTrigger" are my current every-day-addictions... Thinking about dusting off the "DragonQuest" games I purchased for a rainy day now that it's getting cold and snowy where I live... I've had DQIV & DQV sitting on my shelf for ages, think it's time to get one under-way...

... But what are all of you stalwarts out there on older iterations of the hardware into, currently? Inquiring minds want to know!

:D

I keep Korg DS-10+ in my DS Lite at all times for some fun w/ emulated analog synths and sequencers. When I go on vacation I use it for that and for GBA games.

Perhaps I've talked to you about this game in the past, but it's amazing, isn't it??? I'm getting better at programming it and altering the sounds day by day. It is amazingly flexible. Have you seen the vids on YouTube of what people have done with them, in terms of Dub-Step and the like? I'm not a huge fan of Dub-Step, but I am impressed as HELL with what some people have managed with this title!

:D

As an almost 30-year vet of the recording and live sound industry, some of the art that has been generated by this lil' gizmo stupifies my brain!

EDIT - @MinishDriveBy: GREAT screen name, and a "YAY!" For the DQV!!! I like DQ best out of all the RPG series out there (with the exception of "ChronoTrigger" which is my all-time favorite, I think)...

The last few games I've beaten on DS are Dragon Quest V and VI and I still play IX every once in a while. I want to beat the bonus dungeons in V and VI some day and I still need to get me a copy of IV. If I do, all I'd be missing is VII and VIII to have a complete DQ collection. I also beat both dementium games fairly recently and am currently playing through Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light. Pretty good so far. There are still quite a few games for DS I want to play and because of that, I'm not getting a 3DS anytime soon.

I think we have, maybe over in Legacy Platforms... It was w/in the last couple months. There are indeed some crazy videos. People get some really awesome stuff going w/ two of them. I am really hoping there is a 3DS upgrade w/ more features, esp. more tracks and the ability to make longer patterns, also maybe play more patterns than one at the same time. (I think Korg would be better off going iOS or whatever but that's what I want.) It's still great though. Limitations aren't always bad. I have a Roland MC-808 (for example) which is similar only hardware and has like ninteen gagillion sounds and sampling and all kind of everything and it sounds awesome and all but I have made more complete songs on DS-10 because you can't get lost in details and just have to make every sound count.

Dragon Quest VI for the most part, with Ghost Trick and Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors on the side. I need to start another play through of Flower, Sun and Rain at some point as well (great game).

I've gone back to play 999 before I get to Virtue's Last Reward on the 3DS.

As for other recently completed games: Solatorobo and Chrono Trigger(2nd playthrough).

Pokemon Black 2 at the moment. Trying to figure out what my next move will be, now that I've beaten the Elite Four and caught both Zekrom and Kyurem.

Dragon Quest VMinishdriveby

I still have to finish that game. Lost my way shortly after I got the kids into my party, and stopped playing from that point.

White 2, and I'll probably still be playing it when I get a 3DS since I'll finally be able to connect online.

What did you think of Solatorobo?

Its pretty good. It's one of those "better than the sum of its parts" type of games. It has a lot of different elements thrown in that keep it engaging and fun. But the combat itself is pretty simple. And the graphics are beautiful, some of the best on the DS. It's a game I feel is worth a shot, it was a nice break of pace for me from the very heavy rpgs I normally play such as Disgaea, Persona, or the aforementioned Chrono Trigger. Its a light rpg. If you're looking into it and it interests you, give it a shot. But try to stick with it, the first couple hours didn't hook me, but it got better.

You don't need to sell me on it, I've already played it. :P Yeah I agree wit pretty much everything you said. I loved the development o the world and characters, and it has arguably the best production values on the DS. Great game.

In anticipation of the new Animal Crossing game coming out next year for the 3DS, I pulled out the DS one and started a new game. Other than that I'm switching back and forth with the Castlevania titles. Retro ftw!

Ive got quite a few games on my R4 right now.. Harvest Fishing, Magicians Quest, some Professor Layton, Zenses, IOH, Soul Bubbles, and a few others.

I have beaten a few games, and I replace them with new ones. Much fun!

The only thing I use my DS Lite for anymore is Guitar Hero: On Tour+Decades. Those two games have some of the best tunes in the series on them. Otherwise, I've pared down my DS library to absolute favorites: the 3 Castlevanias, my two Jump! Stars games, NYT Crosswords, AC2: Discovery, LotR Conquest, Glory Days 2, Star Wars 3, Contra 4, and(I think) Brothers in Arms DS.

I recently played through Kingdom Hearts ReCoded and 350/2 days. About to start a second playthrough of Radiant Historia but I might just play something from my backlog instead.

Thoughts on...

ReCoded - Terrible controls, blah story, awful platforming, incredibly dumb and restrictive fighting bosses and Olympus was horrid. Surprisingly decent combat system when you actually are set loose on it though but everything else was meh. Really only recommendable to KH fans.

358/2 Days - Boring, battle system felt lack luster, repetitive and paint by the number mission design, no sense of real character development, Xion is meh. Definitely the worst of the series.

Thankfully Kingdom Hearts 3D washed away all that, as it's one of the best titles of the series.

Professor Layton and the Last Spectre. Very close to finished. Spent a lot of time in the London Life minigame halfway through the main game:P
