Hey everyone,

So, I recently purchased the 3DS, but I'm feeling a little buyers remorse after shelling out the 250 for it. I know it's stupid, but I always seem to get BR after a fairly major purchases (well, as a university student, it's pretty big). I was contemplating returning it and getting a DS, but then that might not be the best idea, considering it's not going to be the main focus for Nintendo in the future. I know it's ultimately my decision, but I was hoping for some words of encouragment about the system.

I've been playing some Face Raiders, which is pretty awesome, but I need some advice on games:

Name three DS games that I should definitely pick up. I love RPGs with good stories, and I enjoy platformers.

Name one 3DS game I should look into (or, conversely, suggest that I wait for newer titles; or maybe DS games are the way to go right now).

Thanks a bunch, guys and gals.

You already bought it, and they won't give you all your money back.

On top of that, you can play DS games on the 3DS...so where is the hold up? The slew of 3DS games will be coming out soon so just hold on buddy.

Don't give up on the 3ds just yet. If it ends up being even half of what the original ds was then you will more than get your money's worth from it. I had that same feeling after buying the ds right after it first came out, especially after reading all the negative reviews and about how much better the psp was goingto be. But in the end I have played the ds more in the last 5 years than the xbox, xbox 360 and psp combined!

For the 3ds: I really like Pilot wings, fun, easy going game perfect for short bursts of handheld gaming, it also shows off the 3d effect very nicely.

If you want to bide your time with ds games then you should look into:

Platformer: New Super Mario Bros. there is a reason this game has sold like 10 million copies. It is that good.

RPGs: Either of the Mario and Luigi games are great but especially Bowser's inside story. That game has a very funny story and all the right elements of a great rpg. You can't go wrong with that one.

Other: At the risk of sounding like a nintendo ubernerd I want to recommend The legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. These games look incredible for being on a hand held and the gameplay is a classic.

Hope this helps.

My 3ds is my favorite thing I own now. I love playing some xbox360 but I find myself on my 3ds way more. Something about having my entire gaming system in my hands makes it feel more personal. While the 3ds game selection may be lacking right now (I dont care what you say I feel it is) The DS has tons of great games you can play. If you get rid of your 3ds now trust me you'll want one again before the end of the year.

Exactly the same thing here; university student debating whether the 3DS is worth it and wondering if maybe I should go for the DS. I was close to changing to the DS (my 3DS is currently sitting in my desk, unopened), but there's two things that stopped me. First and foremost, I think it is fair to assume the DS is on its way out, with the rumors of a new Nintendo home console and the 3DS I don't think it will be getting a lot of support. Then there's GBA support, as dead as it is I still love playing Metroid and the Battle Network series (the old ones, when they were actually good), but these games alone don't justify the purchase, so I went with the 3DS.

Besides, Nintendo handhelds are a common sight at campus (amazing how popular pokemon is), so I figured the 3DS street pass feature should make for some interesting experiences.

I didn't pick up any 3DS games, so I went with three DS games: Golden Sun (slow but really good), Pokemon W (because I'm a fan of the series), and 999 (which I'm yet to try but looks very interesting).

As for 3DS games, I was on the edge with Rayman 3DS. I just think that I played it way too much when I was a kid to pay almost full price for it. But if you have never tried it I would recommend it.

Amazing how similar we sound. After buying the 3DS, I had it on my desk for three days without opening it. I just kept thinking about whether I should keep it or return it. I hope you're enjoying it!

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I really appreciate the time taken to respond. Making this purchase comes a lot easier knowing there's a wicked community of people out there to help support fellow gamers.

And it's pretty awesome to have a new handheld. My last was the original Gameboy, and my best memories were playing Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. As far as I'm concerned, it's still one of the best games of all time.

I am a university student to. The 3ds potential is limitless, especially with the fantastic titles coming out very soon. I don't regret my purchase, because the ds will soon be in the past , and ull have your next gen system ! Right now I only have Super Street Fighter 4 for 3ds but i got a lot of ds titles (because I never had a 3ds).

3ds games -

SSF4 (amazing, and i don't particularly like fighters)

DS-

Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks (the controls really do work! i was skeptical, but not any more)

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 (any KH game has an unmatched story, except re:coded)

Tetris ds (hard to find, but worth every bit)

Picross 3d (fun for short spurts)

NinjaTown (NINJA's FTW)

Pokemon white (most pokemon aren't as cool as other games, but the story and gameplay are the best in the series IMO)

9 doors 9 persons 9 hours (If you like a great story, puzzles, and a survival horror setting, this is highly reccomended)

Chrono Trigger or Radiant Historia- (dont have it, but if you like turn based games, its rated one of the best)
