How does Samus fit into the Morph Ball?

It may be possible that she could squeeze into the small shape, but that would seem rather uncomfortable, and could possibly injure her.I've also read a theory that she turns into pure energy when forming the Morph Ball, hence why there is a band of light between the two halves of the Morph Ball.

Thoughts on this issue?

My guess is that she doesn't see at all but rather uses vibrations to tell where she's going.

Ah. The wonders of a sci-fi game. =)

If it made lots of sense it would be more drama.

I asked one of the developers this question, their response was (paraphrased) "When something is more technologically advanced than what one is used to, it looks impossible or like magic, kind of like rfiles were to the indians. That's kind of how Metroid is sometimes"

I never thought the ball was that small. It's about a meter in diameter so just her curling up should be enough. Then the shoulder pieces cocoon her.

It beleive it's called the morph-ball, rather than "fetal-position-ball" or "fold-up-into-a-ball" for a reason. Samus actually morphs to go into the ball, meaning her biological structure changes.

Well, when we reach a point in time where we have technology available to us like Samus' suit, I can only imagine what we could do with it....even if it is Chozo technology.

Listen to us, we sound like a bunch of nerds right now.

There's so many things about sci-fi games/movies/stories that don't make any sense. How does she travel from solar system to solar system so fast? It's impossible to go faster than the speed of light.

I also asked myself the same question, but I came to a conclusion: Metroid games are sci-fi games, so the technologies in the game doesn't have to make sense or are too advanced for us to understand, even for the creators of Metroid.

In MP3 if you roll into a ball next to someone you will realize that when she is in ball form she is actually pretty big.

The morphball, at least in the Metroid Prime series, is actually huge. Almost 1 meter of diameter. That's the diameter of the tunnels that the scan visor indicates.

Obveously you guys have never died in Morphball form. You explode in a white flash of energy, which has to mean samus turns into energy while inside the larger-than-it-looks morph ball. How does she see? Im not sure, but I think there is a tiny camera on the morphball. Look hard at it and theres like a tiny dot.

This IS infact Nentendo!

how does mario breath in Space but not in Water in SMG? How does a male Yoshi lay eggs? WTF is a Waluigi?

I'm going to take a page from a well known British sci-fi show and say that the inner volume and shape is completely different from what you see on the outside. (it would also explain why the shape of the suit unmorphed doesn't quite match Samus's figure)

actually I think it is just Chozo magic at work. Because I think I remember in Metroid Prime 1 that the pirates tried to utilize a morph ball mechanism but all of the test subjects were crushed. So I think since Samus has Chozo blood in her only she and other chozo would be able to roll into the morph ball and no one else (well maybe besides Dark Samus)

Man I feel like a total nerd

I think the more important questions is why do they have morph-ball shaped tubes EVERYWHERE in the enemy base? Nobody else is turning into a ball. What the hell? If they just closed off those holes, the battle would be over, the Pirates would win. Game over. But instead, like the idiots they are, they just wait for Samus to roll her way into their base and kill their dumb asses.

That's like if Bowser built platforms on the way to his secret hideout that Mario could jump to. Or like if Ganondorf left useful weapons lying around for Link to pick up. At least those 2 games use common sense...

I remember asking myself this question while playing Metroid Prime and I could almost swear the answer was in one of the things I scanned or read in my logbook. I have a hunch that the "turns into pure energy" is right though - as we can see what happens to her when she dies in morphball mode.

Umm i'm pretty sure i know why they had samus roll into a morph ball besides it being a cool idea and good for puzzles. I reckon its because especially in the NES era, it was MUCH easier to program, cheaper and also handles lag or lack of, as it was easier to just animate a ball, and then i suppose the just kept the idea because it was cool. Just my take on it.

the term science-fiction means that you use science to make fiction... so you have to explain scientifically how the think works even if those thing not exist, you cant say "it is a sci-fi game, doesnt matter how it work" it is not science fiction is FANTASY...

I alwais thoug that samus is tranlated to another dimesion when is in in morph ball form... but i like the energy version to

BTW!!! in the original NES metroid the morph ball was called maru mari... I dont know if it is japanesse, sound kinda
