Does the DS lite require you to buy any form of external device to play online? If so, please indicate what.

If you already have a wireless router in the place where you play, turn on the game and go to the game's WiFi section ("Play Online", or whatever it's called on the particular game - Usually it says SOMETHING to the effect of "Nintendo Wifi Connection" though) and go to the set-up menu... do an auto-search for WiFi connections and you should see your wireless connection come up in the listing... as well as neighbor's WiFi if you live close to another home... which can ALSO be handy, if your connection doesn't work. You can surf their signal and they will be none-the-wiser.

Anyway, set those settings into the game settings by hitting "OK" and you should be able to connect to play online.

If you DON'T have a wireless router in your home already, and you only have a hard-wired connection to the Internets, then you can purchase the WiFi router that Nintendo sells specifically for the DS and plug that into your gizmo, giving you a DS Hotspot.

Hope all of this blather helps.

You may have a ESS Router (Extended Security System).
Without more knowledge its hard to help.
On an ESS router therel be a button marked ESS. What you do is press and hold that till the light flashes, then on your DS select ESS Search or similar instead of Search for Access Point.

Another way is to find your Nearest Wifi Hotspot.
Currently the Cloud, and SOME BT Open Hotspots are free to use.

McDonalds Uses the Cloud, so you can play there. Just search for an access point next time your in and play. Also if you order a meal they cant kick you out until youv had a good hour or two Hehehehehehehehehe

C'mon... you've been posting long enough to know that you need to read the thread and find out what's been discussed prior to your arrival. Posts like this are boarderline whoring... I know you're TRYING to be helpful, but this sort of simple information was available in the thread already, so all you're really doing is adding to your post total to try and raise your site level...

... which, by the way, doesn't buy you anything or impress the chicks...

... so try and tighten it up, OK Stewie? There's a stout lad.
