For those too lazy to see for yourselves, the Wii version got an 86% and the DS version got an 85%.

I've personally been hyping the game but i have to say that the review of the Wii version is pretty sub-par. I believe it should've scored higher but thats not why, a few things stuck out for me.
First off, he seemed to be complaining that the game actually had platforming. It has more platforming, the Wisps, more exploration and branching paths, less emphasis on QTEs, etc.
Further, he complained about the multiplayer, but didn't give us any examples or reasoning. He just said it was "rubbish" and finished up the review. Don't you think that might be something a prospective buyer of the game might want to know about?
He just seems like another idiot that is obsessed with the idea that if Sonic isn't running incredibly fast, there's something wrong. Which is dumb.
For an 8.6 there's quite a bit of criticism, and not much to show why this Sonic game is so great. So, it's not as good as other sonic games in some areas or another.
All right, guess by taking off the number and setting is aside. Don't care about the story, wii controls not preferred. Don't care about story, not in a Sonic game. Multiplayer (didn't know it had it) not fun but I'm in it for the single player experience.
- - Some of the 60+ levels are weak
- - story is humorous at times/likes the new Sonic voice
- - music is good
- - waggle activating wisps a tad annoying, but glad for cla ssic controller/gamecube controller support
- - you can play the game without using wisps
- - wisps are there to open up new paths upon replaying levels
- - reviewer preferred the realistic locales seen in Unleashed
- - multiplayer not that fun
- - doesn't top Sonic Adventure

This review became completely useless when he said "doesn't top Sonic Adventure."
I'm just not psyched for this game. I'm keeping a very close eye on it, but to me it seems like another missed opportunity.
I'm a Sonic Genesis Elitist, I know. Sue me.

Like i said, i think that the review itself was sub-parand the score (IMO) was too low.
This review is very lacking...and stupid.
Here preety much why...this guys sums it up for me.
1) He said that there are "60+ levels" and "7 or 8 levels in each zone" when it's already been confirmed that there are 44 (even in Dreadknux's review build there are 44)
2) He complained about how Sonic was slow in some sections, yet he shouldn't be. I agree with this in a sense. However, it's evident that if the speed slows down it's due to the fact that Sonic needs to tackle some sort of precise PLATFORMING section and not because of some gimmick. This platforming was one of the factors that made Sonic so awesome back in the ****cs.
Look at Marble Hill Zone in Sonic 1 for example. Is that level fast. No. It's actually extremely slow paced throughout the entire level. The entire emphasis is on careful platforming. Yet the level is still great fun to play.
Wii Unleashed has almost no careful platforming whatsoever. You'll get the occasional homing attack chain every once in a while but that's about it. Nothing that requires time or thought.
3) He also said that the levels "lack the character of the real world locations in Unleashed". Personally, I disagree completely. In Unleashed the only level that I felt had any character whatsoever was Chun Nan. That was my favourite level in the game. However, in Colours I have loved the design of every level. The levels are all 1000 times brighter and more vibrant than the levels in the Wii version of Unleashed and they just look so much more interesting.
Also, there are way more of these full length levels in Colours than in Unleashed. In Unleashed there were only 8 day levels (excluding all those 1 minute extra levels) whereas in Colours there are at least 14 possibly more.
4) He also said that "the multipalyer isn't great and is worse than NSMBWii multiplayer". Firstly, he didn't at all specify WHY the multiplayer was bad. He just said it was bad without specifying what was wrong with it, simply calling it "a mess". Secondly, the comparison with NSMBWii was pointless and it almsot just proves a bias that they have. Personally, I think that the NSMBWii multiplayer is a bit of a mess too. When you have 4 people of different skill levels all playing at once the screen is literally at war with itself.
5) He spoke very little of the Wisps at all. He really just said "they're not game breaking". NGamer said that the Wisps really add an extra dimension to the gameplay, and allow for greater exploration (another key factor to the great Sonic games like the ****cs). All Chris stated was the purpose of each of the Wisps and saying that "the drill is great, the laser is not etc". He definately should have gone to more depth here.
Now I respect Chris' opinion of the game, but this review is just a mess. It's quite poorly written to be honest. There's loads of hypocricy throughout and to be hoenst it was as though Chris didn't really understand the formula for Sonic greatness. The NGamer review was way better written even even though the two games got the same score.
On a side note, WHY THE HELL DID THIS GAME SCORE LESS THAN SONIC 4!? Sonic 4 derserves 75-80% imo. It's a fun but flawed experience that's too short and not great value for money. It also plays NOTHING like the Mega Drive titles it claimed that it would harper back to.

Yes, this is exactly how i feel.
I never did believe in the "Sonic cycle" It's been broken quite a few times already, this gen alone. if you ignore the sonic rush games, it has only been broken recently :P[QUOTE="wiifan001"]

They say this game is no better than the original Sonic Adventure, okay thats fine, but how exactly is SA better than Colors? care to explain?
I mean if they are gonna say that the game is no better than SA, then I expect them to at least tell my how SA is better, if they just say that one game is better than another and don't explain why, then that is just an atrocious way to review.
"Sonic Adventure is better... why? Because I say so!"
Of course I cant say if Sonic Adventure it is indeed better than Sonic Colors because I haven't played Colors yet, but since ONM didn't gave me a reason to why SA is better then I will take it as bull**** I'm sorry but if the reviewer doesn't even care to explain and back up what he says, then I don't care to believe in what he says either.
The same with the worlds not being as inspired as those of Unleashed, again why are these inferior? how are the ones of Unleashed better? Explain dammit!
But anyway, the score is great and I'm happy with it, but the review could been way better in execution
