hey I am planning on buying a DS, but I'm not sure if I am going to get the light or get the origional. Is the extra 30 dollars or so worth buying the light or is it not really a big difference?

See how they feel in your hands. I prefer the old DS just because it is much more comfortable in my hands. The lite does have some nice improvements but they get outweighed by comfort.
Lite is so much nicer. Nintendo should have made the lite in the first place. The original never really looked like a finished product; it looks very cheap I think.
Honestly its a question of preferance and opinion.
I'm a man with big hands so i hate the size reduction (always end up hitting 2 button at some point O_o dont ask) I also prefer my portable to be a bit heavier. Also i realised that if you put the lyte on brighter you need to recharge the DS sooner.
At some point 2 of my friend also got problems with theirs and had to send them for repairs (free of charge, a crack in the plastic and half the screen with dead pixels no exagerations).
On the other hand accessories are getting REALLY hard to find for the old model, so if you get the old model be really careful not to loose your ac adapter or your plastic pencil.
personally, i'm in love with my old DS, got it when it came out, and havent regretted at all :D. so i'd go for the original. It is a little chunkier, yes, but thats how i like it, because it fits in my hands better, and the buttons are MUCH easier to use (the DS lite one clicks instead of pressing in smoothly, i hate it :(). BUT if its the flashy features your after (brighter screen, more compact console overall, better stylus) then your better off with the lite. Hope i've helped! :D

LITE ITS WAY BETTER smaller litter its awseome go to youtube and cable nintendo ds review
