Do you have WiiConnect24 on? That MIGHT be the problem, although it hasn't been proven.

If your wii overheats then its defected, but if it just gets warm in stand by then thats natural. Just let your Wii overheat so when your wii starts to melt Nintendo would have no choice but to repair it or send you a new one.

Some people do have an overheating Wii, all of those people also have a defective Wii.

If you're Wii isn't defective then you can play it as long as you want and leave on Wiiconnect 24 as long as you wont and you'll never have a problem.

It is the problem...this thing that nintendo wants you to have running all the time will prolly kill your system. I kept mine on for like a week and the thing was always burning hot!

The only time I have that problem is when my Wii is too close to the TV and doesn't have room to breath.

yeah my wii gets pretty hot, but i have ample ventilation for it, i reccomend keeping it flat on its side, not upright, this will give it more room to ventilate (when up right the vent is on the bottom). and dont clutter it.

It's not a problem, if it IS a problem it's because of a defective Wii, not a design issue.

Wiiconnect 24 causes none, zero, nada, zilch when used on a Wii that's working correctly.

My first Wii overheated. Now I'm too paranoid to use WiiConnect24 on my new one.. I guess I shouldn't be, though.

The only official release from Nintendo saying this was from Nintendo of Europe saying, "we've had no reports in the UK of anything like this happening" Tht does NOT dismiss that it may be a problem.

No, the people who have contacted Nintendo because of this have already been told it's a defect.

If it wasn't everyone who has a Wii from launch (like me) would have a system that was cooked. It's not a design issue at all, it's a defect where the heat sink isn't working correctly in some cases.

What amazes me is how many users have fallen prey to the scare tactics instead of thinking for themselves. You have people going out and getting a fan for the Wii even though the problem with the defecitve Wii's and the heat sink wont be fixed by it.

Like I said in another post like this. If you don't connect the processor and heat sink in your computer somehow it doesn't matter how many fans you add to the case it's eventually going to overheat and break. Same thing with the defective Wii's, it doesn't matter if you're running Wiconnect 24 or not, eventually it will overheat because it's defective.
