Hello, I recently began playing Paper Mario on the Wii U virtual console. I can't help but feel like this game is sort of like "babies first RPG " I like the charm and so far I like where the story is heading but the gameplay seems so bare bones for me. Should I go continue playing?

Did any of you feel this way when you played it?

@Solid_Link22: I find the newer ones to have better gameplay. The Mario and Luigi series i find has better story and rpg elements. The newer ones get hated on a lot, but i usually always find them more fun.

I would keep playing for a bit and see if you start to like the gameplay more, the fights get a little harder and longer.

I love the first two games, personally. Sure the combat isn't too tough, but the atmosphere, writing, and aesthetic (especially in the second game) more than make up for it.

Don't go into the game looking for a challenging RPG. Look for a charming game thats really funny with lots of personality. I really enjoyed the game, I think you should keep playing the game because its really fun. I've had a blast with the game and think its worth it to see it through to the end.

well its not hated as the game itself... its more hated on because of the title....

thats like super smash bros changing up or street fighters changing up you still have to keep the original roots to the game but add on different things

Definitely don't quit, it's one of the greatest games out there! I've replayed it several times because it's so good. There's extra side bosses towards the end of the game that are definitely worth it and the game as a whole has excellent characters, an amazing soundtrack, great locations, addictive game play, and good writing. Whatever you do, don't play Sticker Star or Color Splash over this one.

Never look for Mario RPGs for a challenge. Anyway I played the actual game on my N64 and had a blast without being bothered about the difficulty. I think you should keep playing it because the game is fun, and then move on to Paper Mario Thousand Year Door.
