hi

I looked at facts from the DS-History, maybe to foresee the future of the Nintendo Wii. A lot of people say that the DS started slow too, but got the systemsellers later on, and so i tried to figure that out.

this is based on IGN's Reviews:

-) the DS has only 11 Games with Scores bigger or equal to 9.0 up to now

-) none of them is from the year 2007

-) 3 of them are Puzzle/Music-Games -> Minigames

this is based on Gamerankings Averages (almost from all Online-Mags):

-) only 3 (!) games up to now have a score above 9.0

-) all of them came in the 4th quartile of 2005 (Mario Kart DS, Castlevania, Advance Wars)

-) NONE (!) of the average Uservotes is above 9.0 (highest: 8.9... Mario Kart)

-) 11 out of the Top-15 are from Nintendo

so in spite of the good sells-numbers... where are the Topgames? The DS was released in November 2004 in America, and so far... see yourself... very disappointing

I hope the future of the Wii is very very different. What do you say? Sure you like your DS-games, but look at the facts.

Well, I am looking at the facts, and it STILL doesn't matter. I sold about 10 of my DS games that I could live without (all great games, I'd just worn them out and was never going to play them again) and I still have 10 games that are so awesome, I can't even begin to decide which one to play at any given time. And the DS probably has a good 2 or 3 years left in it's lifespan. Phantom Hourglass, anyone? My point is, I already have half as many Wii titles, and they are all good solid titles that I will be playing for years to come, with even more games coming all the time. Oh well, at least you didn't mention online (which also will be the same as the DS and is also not a problem)

I'm not disappointed in the DS at all. I don't have a huge number of games but I do have Mario Kart, Castlevania DoS, New Super Mario, Metroid, FFIII to name a few and these are all great games. The DS is better than I thought. As for the Wii, I only have Zelda and Wii Sports and they were great. I am looking forward to MEtroid, Mario, TIger Woods, Paper Mario, etc. DS had crap games when it first came out and now there are many great ones. The Wii to me is following the same pattern right now with not all that many must have games but I think down the road the 3rd party support will increase and the system will thrive.

Hate to tell you but a lot of people have far more fun with games rated from 6 to 8 rather then 9 and above. The vast majority of top selling as well as considered fun to play don't get ratings above 9.0. The psp is considered unfun even though it has from it's proponets more games that score 9.0 and above.

I'll tell you what this is... people that rate games are just as drunk and out-of-touch as the rest of the media. You are basing your post off of ratings, and I am here to say that the ratings should only be a small factor to the end-user. What does a person that plays video games for a living know about the end-user? The consumer normally works 40+ hours a week, and comes home to play a game to escape for a while. Playing Castlevania on my DS on the train ride home makes me score it off-the-charts instead of worrying about how the DS doesn't have the horsepower of the PSP. SSX Blur, Rayman, Zelda, and Sonic blows me away RIGHT NOW, ratings or not. ***I feel like I may be straying from the path of this post. SORRY!***

well i guess people like "bad games" then, being as this system still sells thousands every month. most people don't care about ratings. and it's a shame people base their buys if a game isnt AAA

[QUOTE="Kenshi_is_god"]well i guess people like "bad games" then, being as this system still sells thousands every month. most people don't care about ratings. and it's a shame people base their buys if a game isnt AAA

the reason why people dont listen to rating is because alot of the time the people that are doing ratings dont even want to play the game and end up giving bad reviews. also most of the game that are out for the wii and ds has alot of diffrent genra's.not everybody likes adventure game or sport games but thats all personal oppinions, thats why most people that review dont like most game's out right now.for example red steel i really underrated, and think it should of gotten around an 7.9 but thats just IMO.
