I'm curious to how some people can see 3D and others can't.

I remember as a kid I had trouble with the Disney World 3D shows (mostly because it was archaic 3D that hurt my eyes), but with recent 3D evolution, I don't have any problem with seeing it and watching it for extended periods of time.

Also, I heard some people say they had to cross their eyes to see the 3D? I just normally look at it and it's 3D. It's basically the same thing with those 3D "magic" images.

Thoughts?

yeah thats it basically. Everyone is different and many people these these have eye problems which lead to the 3d effect not working.

It has to do with having a lazy eye. Some people don't even realize they have a lazy eye. When both eyes aren't able to see in the same location, you don't see 3D. So if one eye is not in synch with your other eye, you won't see 3D good... if at all. You might even get headaches too. But that can happen to people without eye problems. 3D isn't natural, its tricking your brain. Of course this trickery doesn't feel pleasent to your body over a long period of time.

The 3D effect is similar to magic eye. You just have to relac your eyes and it kicks in. Otherwise it's two images.

If you can do magic eye, you can play 3DS.

I find that people with glasses have a harder time seeing it. I have a mild prescription on my glasses and I have to turn it down a bit before it becomes easy to take in.

I always had good sight and never wore glasses. I still find it hard to see the 3d on anything but lowest setting. That said I couldn't move the 3ds around it was mounted into the display. Maybe I didnt have right angle.

At fist I had it about half way, any higher and it made my eyes go funny

Then after about an hour or so I tryed putting it on full again and my eyes adjusted to it really quickly, so maybe the 3DS has given me super eyes :P

it's a slider rather than an on/off thing for a reason. different people react/adjust differently, so sometimes the optimal 3D is almost turned off (your case), sometimes putting it full is better.

I am severely near sighted and wear very thick lens glasses, and i see 3D just fine. I just bought a 3D tv and i have been enjoying several games in 3D with the sliders around the 75% mark. One of my friends came over and he has perfect vision, but he could not see any of the 3D effects in Killzone 3 or in the Resident Evil Afterlife 3D movie. I thought he was joking at first, but he was serious. How do you explain 3D to someone who cant see it?

same here and it only took 20 mins for me to see it on high, although some things still show up double at times, so I just tone it down to about half or so.

Me too. I wear glasses and it didn't affect anything. I also took off my glasses to see if anything changed (because at times things up close are hard to see with them on) and it worked exactly the same.

You know, in real life if your hand is in front of your and you're focusing on it everything else is double, but when you focus off of your hand to everything else your hand is doubled. I'd say the 3D on the 3DS is quite realistic.

Lowering the setting basically moves the images (im not sure which way, I imagine further apart) If you have the 3D on full it has a veeeery tight sweet spot-basically looking dead on, and if you move out of that it'll blur, if you lower it, you can move it around a bit more without it blurring, but the 3D won't be as full on. So yeah, it being fixed in place probably didn't help.

I have lazy eye and I can see the 3D effect on the 3DS, it just depends on how bad you have it. Also my vision in my lazy eye has improved from using the 3DS with 3D on.

I've had a lazy eye since birth. I can see/understand depth, but I can't see fake 3D. So I can't see the 3D on a 3DS or those 3D movies, etc. I'm buying a 3DS either way.

I have very poor eyesight in my right eye and I am also nearly blind in my right eye and I wear glasses. I can not see the 3D effects, which is a little disappointing.

Similar to the poster above me, I'm severely short/near sighted and am practically blind nowadays in my right eye so I can't see any of the 3D effects from the 3DS either, or those from recent movies, (which sucks :() although back when I was younger and still had vision in my right eye, I was able to see 3D effects just fine wearing those funny card glasses you used to get with one lens coloured red and the other coloured blue.

I still bought a 3DS though because, for me, it's got a lot more to offer than just the 3D gimmick....Streetpass/Spotpass connectivity, better and more advanced games, a proper analogue controller that is much better than the PSP's nub, an E-Shop that will have downloadable classic Gameboy games, etc. :)

Might be that some don't have it at the right angle.
I remember when I got this 3d porn mag, I had to move it in all different places to see the boobs in 3d

Sorry to revive an old topic, but I have 20-20 vision, no lazy-eye, and I can do magic eye. But I just can't see the 3D on the 3DS. I feel like if I bought one and played with it for a while I would get it, but when I try to use my friends it looks just like a regular ds to me.

I couldn't help but laugh at this.

I feel very sorry for all those people who can't see the 3D.

The worst case scenario is probably that, for a while at least, you'll need to wear glasses just to see in 2D.
