Why

Its just fun. Pick up and play type of game, great controls, great visuals, excellent presentation and music. Truly innovative gameplay, unique platformer (my favourite genre) -- a must have for Wii owners. Its not often that a third party game out does a first party game on a Nintendo console, but this is one exception.

Check it out. Enjoy it. Cherish it. This is the type of exclusive content I want to see on the Wii. This is what I want!

Megaman 9, because it brought the blue bomber back to his former glory and put up somewhat of a challenge, something that most recent games are lacking

no more heroes for me. while it certainly had problems, the things that it did do well were done exceptionally. it was fun, sleek, action packed, and hilarious.

Super Smash Bros Brawl. It's just such a complete package. It has everything: great graphics, amazing soundtrack, flawless gameplay and lots and lots of options.

I agree. PES is one of the only games this year that I felt was both high quality, and made good use of the controllers. It's a revolutionary soccer sim experience that simply cannot be had on the other consoles.

for me, Wii would have to be No more hereos. GReat game, played though 4 times, and now i have so much money, dont need to do any side quests, just fighting. But overall, my fav game this year is going to have to be Left 4 Dead for my PC. I havent touched anything else since i got it, and ive gotten all my friends into it, Intense game, got to try it if u have a PC/360(ehh)

Its been intresting reading this Post, because im getting a Wii soon and i was wondering what games to get :D. So far im defently getting - SSBB - Mario Kart - Super Mario Galaxy I will keep an i eye on this post, but most people lack on explaining why they picked there game of the year. also i must say De Blob looks like a game that is much different, but i just cannot see my self enjoying it as much as other games i have in mind.

okami (released in europe this year...may have been last year in the states....cant remember). yes its a PS2 port but the game really is at home on the wii imho. besides the game is absolutely fantastic. its right up there with zelda in terms of quality imho.

There have been some pretty good games this year, although not as many as last year. My favorites were Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Okami, Tetris Party, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Lost Winds. I'd have to say my personal game of the year is Mario Kart though. I've always loved the series and i think the Wii version is the best one yet. Plus it's the only game I'm actually really competitive online. Most other games I get beat down on, but on Mario Kart I usually get in the top 3 every race.

For me, Game of the Year on Wii would be... No More Heroes. Because that game had balls man. I think it deserves more attention than it got, althought it's far from perfect.

Well its a tie between RE4 or Red Steel or SSBB

I think Red steel had alot going for it, RE4 - a bit short 13 hours for me but i like the unlocks and SSBB i pick up and play with my bros so its permanant fun!! ;]

Red Steel released in 06 and RE4 Wii edition in 07. Anyways, my personal favorite is SSBB.

same. I never anticipated another game as much as I anticipated Brawl, It's my Wii GOTY. Mario Kart Wii is the definite runner up.

World of Goo for overall quality and originality (two things I believe GOTY's should have). Brawl was the funnest game I've played all year though.

Blast works or Naruto clash o ninja rev 2. I don't have either yet but blast works will have me glued to the Wiimote for hours! Naruto will be awesome especially curse mark Sasuke!!

I would have to say Super Smash Bros. Brawl that game was insanely awesome.

A lot of people are saying SSBB, but I'm going to be honest and say I got bored of it rather quickly. I guess it was the fact that I played Melee since 2001, consistently -- and since brawl was fundamentally the same thing I couldn't keep myself to playing it as long as other games.

I went back and forth on World of Goo and No More Hero's before setting on GOO.

I think they both excel in ART, Story, design, and gameplay. However, I think World of Goo gets the win because of its LOW price and the fact that its playable by almost everyone; Young, Old, Newb, Pro

de blob was a pretty good game, but i got bored with it quick, i was looking forward to sonic unleashed because i havent seen a good sonic game in years, but i have to say it was terrible, especially the night time levels. i would have to say that my favourite game of the year would have to be SSBB or Mario Kart. I loved Brawl for it's replay value and the adventure mode wasnt that bad and mario kart's contorls were alot of fun.
