Phantom hourglass help

on my second return to the temple of the ocean king , right now i'm in the second basement and after reading a walkthrough i found out i was supposed to step on the switch to deactivate the spikes then throwmy boomerang in to get the key. i did just that but one problem, theres no key inside.

please help

You have to activate the switches, around the entrance area to the floor, where there is a phantom standing.

I hope Im thinking of the right area..

There are two switches in the area right above you where the phantom is standing guard. Hit them and the key will fall.

by "switch" do you mean one of those crystal ball things or one that you pull?

yeah, what they said, now i have my own question, if any-1 will help. it is in the ocean temple place, at the end, after you have gone through the second doungen and gotten the blue fairy, i am at the room with the upside-down map of the south west seachart... what teh heck do i do?!? it sais somthing like, press the map against the crest to transfer it, the something will open to the holder of the sun key. i have no idea of what to do. the fairy wont let me leave, and if i save in there then turn off the DS, then it takes me back to the beggining of the temple.Cheagle

Think about it. Look at the picture they give you and see if you have anything that looks similar only not upside down and open it up. All you need to do now is figure out how to physcially transfer whats on the top screen to the bottom screen, hmmmm...
