Man I was planning on going to gamestop to buy Heroes of Mana, but it wasnt there. But, PW, Mario and Luigi: PiT, and Hotel dusk were all games I wanted, and they were there. So I chose PW (the first one) since I heard it was good. As soon as I bought it I saw Heroes of Mana copies right next to the cash register...Anyway, Its a great game. I really wasnt expecting it to be...let me rephrase. I didnt know what to expect. But its really great to solve cases, and it feels satisfying when you get the witness on the spot. I really liked the parts when they didnt tell you who did it, so you had to guess, and the suspects went all over teh place. I definetly reccomend this game, and lucky me, I have enough to buy 2 and soon 3 (unless its already out).

Strangly enough I'm currently playing the forst PW too, I have the second one to play after I complete the first one, and the 3rd one isn't out in the US yet.

I'm rather far into the game, I'm in the Turnabout Goodbye chapter

Yeah, Phoenix Wright is an amazing series. I have a friend who had never heard of it before, and when I told him you play as a lawyer he literally laughed out loud and told me he couldn't believe I'd bought it. I let him borrow it after a while because he got curious. Six days later he finished it, bought PW2, beat that one, and currently he is eagerly counting down the days until Trials and Tribulations is released.

Now he completely trusts my taste in games, even though they aren't really my opinions since I buy most of my games based on recommendation threads.

It's a shame we didn't see the Phoenix Wright games on the GBA, it would have really helped it a lot in my eyes...not that I don't love pokemon of course. *cough* With the exception of implemented touch controls and one extra mission in the first game (no bonus ones in the second) the touch bad is basically ignored.

We'll see what happens with Phoenix Wright 3.

The first one is definately better than the second. The second one felt way too short. Maybe because I'm pretty good at the game now.

I've yet to try that series and everything I hear is nothing, but good praise. I will probably order it soon enough on Amazon though because the stores around me don't have it anymore (at least not the first one).

I'd suggest play-asia for game imports.

I don't think he'll need to import, unless he plays through the first two games blazingly fast. I would think EB/Gamestop stores would have them, as I see them all around where I'm from.

I don't need to import, but I do need to order online because the stores around me (I'm in a small campus town - going to school) don't have it in stock. I can order the first PW for $30 and the second for $20 on Amazon. Kind of weird, but maybe the first is more rare or something.

They have the first game in every bargain bin where I live. It goes for less than $20 along with age of empires. I'd say just keep looking if you want it for cheap

PW games aren't "Great" they are "Good" mabye even medicore

The first one was pretty good. but why are there more popping up!

Its not like they can add more content that's newand entertainingin the third one, (Which they didn't in the second one)

Sorry to tell you butthe PW games are gonna end up just like every other franchise with very few or no newcontent

(ex.mario party,Tony hawk)

It's like reading a good book. You wouldn't buy the other books of the author you like, just because his writing style hasn't changed?

Actually, the first two Phoenix Wright series were indeed released on the GBA, albeit exclusively in Japan. However, very few outside of the country spotted a very interesting attribute to both games : they had an english option, possibly for Japanese gamers to play in English (since English there is an appealing language to them).

They were ported to the DS eventually, with the first game including a "5th case" that didn't exist on the GBA version, exclusively for the Nintendo DS. People who have finished the first game can confirm as to why it is so different from the other first four cases.

I just finished Gyakuten Saiban 3 (It's Phoenix Wright 3 in Japan). It already was accompanied with english script and audio, so I had time to enjoy the game before its US release.

I have yet to play Hotel Dusk, I'm stuck playing Rune Factory and Worms, Open Warfare 2. Those two games are made of WIN.

Eurogamer gave the 3rd Phoenix Wrigth (Trials and Tribulations) an 8/10! I really, REALLY loved Ace Attorney. Didn't touch number two as I heard it wasn't as good (and Pearl kinda annoys me!), but I'll definately be picking up number three. It's just a question of whether I wait until October or pick up the import!

They are the best DS ga,mes made. One my fave gaming moment of all time was in AA. I loved it when Lotta took a group photo at the end of case 4 and you see something unexpected in it... Gave me shivers it was so good! The music is easily my fave game music ever also.

So the gist of this thread says these games are totally worth it.  I'm tempted.  Really.

Just one thing, I can take these games in any order, right?  It's not an ongoing story, right?

Sorry to tell you butthe PW games are gonna end up just like every other franchise with very few or no newcontent

gameguru43

But there is still more ingenious and hillarious stories/cases to be told! I could argue that this is the "new content" being added to PW games, bizarre cases! The way you play the game may still be similar, but what really brings people back to it is the interesting stories and characters, i imagine.. I'd like to add that the 2nd game, like the first, was a remake of the japanese GBA version. There is a new game in the series in the works that is being made from the ground up for the DS, expect new DS content then(perhaps similar, or additions to, the last case in the first game.. which was added to the GBA's content).

PW games are great. They may not be games that garner much in the way of high scores, but they are terribly funand offera unique experience that realy isn't found much on the other current systems. PW is another reason why the DS' library is so powerful.

Oddly enough, despite it's scores most DS owners have cited it as their favourite DS game.

Enjoy the game. The first PW is one of my favorite games on the DS. For some reason the I didn't like the cases in the 2nd PW game but hopefully the new PW game will have that same awesomeness that the original has.
