I'm thinking about purchasing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney... is this worth the $30 or so that is being charged for it? For some reason, I'm not being allowed to put a poll in here right now so that's why there isn't one... but I'm curious about this title in particular as I never got around to trying the one that was out a while ago. Any opinions and thoughts -- the more coherent the better -- would be very much appreciated.

And for all those people who plan on saying, "Too many threads like this, or you could ask in the stickied thread that no one replies to...", just consider the main objective of this thread to present the award to the Most Unfortunately Titled DS Game Ever.

Is it worth buying? Heck yes.

Is it worth $30? Try ebay for a lower price, or something.

Yes. It's a very good game and is definitely worth the purchase. Nothing else I can say except, it's a really good game.

It's world class, I'd 100% recommend it.

Ace Attorney is an interesting genre, it turns something like court room drama and turns it into something fun. The game is heavily text based so if you are going into this thinking your getting recorded voices, don't. The game has that anime art style, and it works great. Anyways the game starts off in the courtroom where you'll take on your first case, the first game contains 5 cases, the last being added for the DS release. Through the cases you will be investigating and examining crime scenes looking for clues and evidence, also exchanging somewhat humorous and insightful conversations with the townsfolk/witnesses. The game has a great story and plot, many plot twists and a cast of colorful, awesome characters. It can be pretty lengthy, especially if you take your time with it. I totally suggest the game to any DS owner whos interested to try it out.

Yes, no doubt about it. Rush to the store and grab it as fast as you can! Very original and unique gameplay make it worthwhile.

I understand that the game relies heavily on text, of course. I'm concerned about replayability, though. I prefer to invest in games that I can return to and enjoy again and again.

Part of what draws me towards that game is that it's very unique (much like what drew me to Trauma Center: Under The Knife)... or at least unique to modern-day handheld/console releases. But if I'm only going to play through it once -- regardless of how good it is, then I'll check my bargain bins for it at a later time... given the amount of releases this year on 360, Wii and DS, I can certainly wait on this.

It's like a really good book: You might read it again to enjoy everything, then you'll show it to everyone you know, then you'll shelf it for a while, then you'll read it again...

It's like a book that requires thought. Simple.

Get Ace Attorney first, as it's the first of two and some of the same characters appear in Justice for All.

The game is 100% reliant on an overarching story. It doesn't make much sense to start reading a book at the center, now does it?

The game is great, but not for everyone. I can't recommend it if you hate reading, for example.. :P I wasn't very interested in the game at first, but I got it anyway, since everyone said it was good, and I'm glad I did. I recommend the game if you're interested.

Toys R Us had it for about $20 new so I'd say look for it at a better price but yes, it's a fun little game.  Approach it with a sense of humor and  you'll enjoy it.

I had heard all the hype surrounding the game and very nearly stayed away thinking that's all it was.  Needless to say I am VERY happy that I took a chance and decided to get it anyway.  I've played through the first game and now am halfway through 'Justice for All'.  I like to savor each case and will play other DS games for awhile before starting (and becoming completely absorbed in) a new case, so this stretches out the length for me I guess.   It's certainly a game worth the $30 with the odds overwhelming in favor of your enjoying it.  :)

I like reading just fine, though I usually seek to get my literature fix from books rather than video games. Nonetheless, I don't have anything against games that require reading, providing that it makes sense in the context. I don't want to purchase a Mario game and have to read a novel to reach Bowser, but as long as I know what I'm getting into, it's all good.

I'll probably pick up Ace Attorney if I can find a good price on it... supposedly it's the better game anyhow. If the verdict ends up being found "not guilty of sucking", then I'll waive my constitutional protection against double jeopardy and pick up its sequel.
