I feel I formed an opinion on Pikmin too soon. I only played the beginning a bit, and watched it a bit. I want to like it, since Pikmin 3 is coming. But I am not sure it is for me. I have never been an RTS fan, and it seems kinda like that. So what would you do if you were me?

I didn't even like the first one. Buy the second -- it's way better. Mainly because you're not timed and get to take your time but also it's just a better game overall.

EDIT: When I'm not sure if I will like a game, I try to see if I can rent it. If your local video store doesn't have it maybe try searching google to see if sites like Gamefly have any free trial deals.

Sort of... the first one is about being stranded on a planet and having 30 days to escape. The second one is about returning to the planet for profit (collecting 'treasures,' aka bottlecaps, Duracel batteries, etc.)

They're connected but you don't need to play Pikmin 1 to understand 2.

Gotcha. So what would everyone say the fun factor comes from? Why is it so good? It seems super easy and super simple, but again, I really have not played or seen much of it. Is there puzzles or something?

Sir, Pikmin is one of the greatest experiences I had with gaming. I'm bursting with joy with the release of NPC Pikmin 2 in a couple of months. My recommendation is to buy NPC Pikmin first thing tomorrow hehe, so that you can be ready for NPC Pikmin 2.

Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find, but Pikmin 2 would probably be the perfect game to get you into the series. There is no day limit so there's no rush. You can go through the game at your own pace. There's also more content in this game than almost every Nintendo experience out there.

My advice is try the second and if you enjoy it, play the first.

Personally I find both of them to be a couple of the greatest games ever made.

I think I would rent the one for Wii, if your local rental place doesn't have it you can find it dirt cheap at most gamestops. Its around $15 and wirth it.

See if you can get Pikmin NPC used for cheap. I enjoyed it, but I like RTS games. If you can get it for $10-15 used, and don't like it, just turn around and sell it.

When does NPC Pikmin 2 come to NA?

I wonder how similar Pikmin 3 will be and also how good the graphics will be, just cause its Pikmin and not Zelda or Metroid. I am wondering if it will be the game (since NSMBWiiU probably wont be) to show off graphics.

It most likely will be. It's the series Miyamoto kept mentioning as one that would benefit from HD visuals and it's pretty much the only Nintendo franchise that goes for photorealism (in the settings). Also Pikmin 2 had some very advanced visual effects for the GCN.

It looks pretty silly to me.

And I hated that character in brawl..

So I'm not taking any initiative to learn more.

With all the games out there, even just on the wii, I'm not going to take the time to force myself to like one even if the majority raves its greatness. I figure the games I will like I will come across them with natural curiosity and interest.

There are times I don't like the silliness in games, and times I love it. It depends how it is done and the setting the game has. I think it is appropriate here. I need to play the game before I judge though :P. I am a big fan of the Nopon in Xenoblade though :P.

June 2012 (better late than never, right?).

It's a given that they will show footage at E3.

I totally agree with you logic, but pikman is one of those games for me. ^_^ and I also think he was a terrible character for brawl...

I'd suggest watching 15-30 minutes of a walkthrough of the game. Somewhere towards the middle rather than the end or beginning, that way you'll see exactly what the gameplay is like. You can only understand so much about a game from reviews or what others tell you.

I played Pikmin in GCN and Wii, and it's much better on the Wii. It was the only game (well, maybe mario tennis too) that made good use of the NPC.

i got the gamecube version because NPC pikmin 2 was never released on wii and i didnt want to change controls...

its fun seeing how pikmin is played with the GC controller.....i think with the wiimote the game would be a little easier to control the pikmin....BUT you have to keep the wiimote in your hand pointed at the screen at all times...thats a bit of a drag...with the GC controller you can relax in any position and play.
your choice naveed.
