Games like Yoshi's Story on the N64 were once awesome but playing later in life just wasn't nearly as fun. Anyone have any other games and had a similar experience?

I've never had that problem, unless it's with an actual child's game.

When I was a little kid, me and my brother would play Smash Bros. original straight, we had a blast unlocking everything and some VS. matches. When I play the original now, it's fun, but nothing close to my enjpyment back then.

No...not with games that I can think of off hand. But movies, now there's truth there! I remember Goonies and Gremlins and Labrynth all being so cool as a kid, but seeing them now is just such a chore! And how about The Wizard? I thought that movie was edge of your seat excitement when I was young, but seeing it now....*zzzz*

the fact you refer to yourself as a young adult automatically shows that you are in need to look more mature than you are

it goes child, teen, adult, and then old

anyway, nope haven't had the experiance since i played quality games when I was young

Chances are the game sucked back then and you didn't realise, or it's a case of rose-tinted glasses.

well if u r talking about a child-exclusive game like yoshi's story, of course it'll look boring to an adult, but talking about SSB, u dont feel the same way because there are new and better smash bros games, and u played them, thats why its not that funny now.

Hmm. Nope I can't recal any games like that. But I do remember playing some of the worst games ever as a kid and being emotionally scarred forever.

I never had a problem like that. I think it depends on your age and what game you are playing.

Never, as I never played a game strictly for kids, not even when I was one.

Have you guys forgotten that EVERYTHING you did as a child was much more fun than when you're grown?

yoshis story got a 5.3 here @ GS, but back in the day i thought it was a pretty good game.

EDIT same goes for rampage world tour. i though that was an excellent game, but i just cant play it now because its just too...repetitive.

Well, there were some games that I played on the NES when I was young that I would find boring now that I have a greater perception between quality and crud. My biggest memory for comparison was with Super Mario Bros. original. I used to think that it was really hard, being unable to get past World 8-3, but I returned to it after several years, and it was easy.

So... you're not a young adult. I got that impression when you mentioned you were a little kid when you played Smash Bros.

I guess it's not enjoyable when you're an insecure teenager.

IMHO:
Yoshi Story sucked. It sucks more now.

And maybe it is because you've played them to death and know how to do everything and what's going to happen in them.

I do not have that problem. I just recently beat Yoshi's Story and I though it was pretty good. When I was little I hated it cuz the level didnt have an end, but now I play it and think "Wow, somebody tried something new with a platfromer". Sorta the same thing with DKC2, I like it more now then I did when I was young.

To the people that said it happens to them with movies. Same here, I just recently watched Pulp Fiction and it was way dumber than I remember it.

At first I though you were going totalk about Ocarina of Time :P.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I still like all the games I enjoyed as a kid (at least, all the ones that came to me just now). Movies, however, are a whole different story. I can't stand some of the movies I used to enjoy. Funny you should mention the "The Wizard" as my friend and I rented it the other day thinking "I remember this! It was awesome!"........yeah, not anymore. It was torture for the 20 min we made it through. It also reminded me of my hatred for that stupid glove.
