I routinely play my DS with it plugged in, actually. I've had my DS for about two years now and the battery still seems fine and dandy. It seems not to cause any problems, at least in my experience. I think it isn't even using the battery to power the DS when you have it plugged in, in fact.

I'm fairly sure that it's running off of AC power when you've got it plugged in, so the battery isn't even doing anything. I think you're fine.

I've got the Phat and been using it for several years now with battery and with AC. So far I haven't had to replace the battery. Before that I did the same thing with my Gameboy and never had any problems.

I just don't know if it'll spoil you DS.. If your playing the DS while charging it's like you have an adopter or something but the duration of charcging slows down coz' your playing and that means your consuming the battery while playing(WTH did I TYPED!)

I'm pretty sure the instruction manual says that you can play while charging. I think Nintendo designed the DS that way.

Your correct. You can play your DS while its charging but it will take much longer for your battery to be completely recharged.

It never fails, I am always in the middle of some epic battle or race when the little red light comes on. I plug it in and continue to play. I do it all the time, have had my DSL since the launch, and I haven't had a problem yet. It just takes the battery a lot longer to charge, but since I am playing anyway, what do I care?

There is nothing wrong with doing that, I do it all the time. The manual even says you can, its just part of how the DS was made.

I play all the time with it plugged in to power. When we go out I play it on battery. After getting back I play it while charging. I have had no issues at all using mine this way.

It really doesn't cause a problem while playing and charging your DS at the same time. Everyone seems to do it if they want to keep playing. Even I charge it and play at the same time. If doing that caused a problem then there will be no point in that feature of the DS and with the 1 to 2 year warenties everyone buys with it then there will be lot of recalls.

It never even occured to me that playing and charging at the same time could be dangerous for the DSL. What made you worry about that?

I actually do that a lot. Whenever my DS goes into low battery and i'm playing, i'd plug in the AC and play while it charges.
Hopefully it doesnt affect the battery =/
