playing gamecube game, can you turn off wii

i might be a mighty moron, but for some reason when i play gamecube games i cant just told the wii remote and turn off the wii

is there a way to turn off the wii withouth going up to it while playing gamecube games???

lol is your Wii really that far from you that you can't just walk over to it and turn it off? If you have a normal GC controller the wire won't let the Wii extend too far from you anyways.

And in response to your actual question, Jasonguy is right. Wii-remote's don't work when you're playing a GC game on your Wii.

ps2 :wireless controllers and use dvd remote

wii: 2 wavebird controllers and would have loved it to be easy to turn off with a remote as well
