i think you two are confusing making a good team with using overused pokemon. he never told him to put in a salamence or anything like that. he gave helpful advice for the team he already has, and asked what the EVs were. you can use what you like and still EV and try to use good movesets.
And replace it with a Munchlax maybe. You never take Snorlax out of your party. Ever. Unless you're changing it for a better Snorlax or the superior Munchlax. Don't set him/her up for failure like that :P
What is wrong with snorelax?! I love snorelax, he can be super strong. I beat my Cuz with one single pokemon- snorelax. I would rate it 8/10 I raised a toxicroak before- didn't like him.

also id give your team a 78/100 because could easily replace yanmega with a rattata lvl 1 @ the Survive brace or w/e Naive nature endeavor/quick attack/super fang/maybe a recover =/ (recover from a glitch tm)
