Seriously, why did they get rid of it when Diamond & Pearl came out? I miss it ALOT.

Possibly because the majority of the franchises audience isn't the same audience as Pokemon Red and Blue (including myself) so they thought they can get away with not paying extra to inquire and produce different colour cartridges that the latest fans probably won't think too much over.
Also, for White. HeartGold & SoulSilver have Black cartridges also.

They used black cartridges because HG/SS and Black/White uses infrared (Pokewalker for HG/SS and instant trading/battling in B/W).
If it wasn't for that, they would have stayed gray like most DS cartridges.

Actually, the HG/SS cartridges are a deep, transparent red. Put it a light source and you'll see.
I just love the older games, they had much better Pokemon. But, Black & White is such a challenge for me with Oshawott XD
i think the reason they removed it because the DS game cards are so small anyway and almost 90 percent of it is hidden unlike the gba where a bit pops out so the color is a bit appealing ...
Like omg the black cartridges totally clash with my white sidebag and rainbow fanny pack.
Ovirew
and that too :D
