Pokemon Conquest gets a 6.5 from GameSpot

Pokemon Conquest's concept and setting are unique, and the curiosity factor alone adds a good amount of appeal and fun to a fairly standard strategy RPG. It's a shame that the combat doesn't live up to the potential of its theme, but if you can get past the limited, simplistic battles, there is certainly enjoyment to be had from this Japanese-flavored exercise in animal army conquest.

Yeah, the scores here have really been underrated lately... :? I looked at IGN's review and it seemed pretty legit at a 9, claiming that Conquest was the best spin-off since Pokemon Snap.bbkkristian

Seems kinda low to me, although I'm only a couple hours into the game.

GS seems to be all over the place lately, that doesn't change the fact that I have no interest in the game

yet did any criticism inside the actual review mention anything about it being a rehash lol? A lot of it was about the discrepancy with the controls, which we all know is a bit silly. ZachMasta

Personally i agree the controls in both games could be better but to call them "poor controls" is hyper bole they work fine most of the time

though of the two games i would say ki:u has better controls 1.you can change them 2.the controller in ki u isn't iffy because it has on again off again acuracy(meaning if the controls always or almost always worked like they should in ss there would be less complaints) kiu is slightly uncoftable at worst

3.with skyward even if the motion controls worked all of time people wouldn't like it because there forcing you to ether play the game there way or not play it all(if motion controls were optional in more games you would see less complaints but as it is either a game doesn't use them at all or a game uses only them,no middle ground what so ever)

4.Another problem is they hype this game as perfect motion controls(what 1:1 means) if they hadn't promised such a thing far less people would be excepting it

After the 7.5 that was given to Skyward Sword I've lost all hope for Gamespot reviews.

I don't judge reviews by their score though, I read the contents. But all the bad points they made, there was a way of fixing them. (See comment on review for details :lol: )

It's worth picking it up, definitely different from anything you've seen pokémon related before, but that's what makes it so unique and fresh :)

Yahtzee must write the game reviews for Nintendo games, he's a big enough of a cynical moron to give reviews like that.

I'll get it regardless of the score, especially since GS's reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt.
