Fantastic news for anyone who is missing one of these
For you guys not in North America keep an eye out for your promotion

Is this a wifi event or just one of those instore promotions?
Soulreavercross
This is an in store promotion
The Gold and Silver exclusive content unlocking Pokemon have been store only, maybe they'll be something WiFi after launch but it seems they want people in the stores to get the Pokemon and hopefully preorder
Hmm is there any info on locations? Can't seem to find anyOmzzz
Just look up Gamestop locations near you
What's with: "Content Distribution may be made over Nintendo WiFi Connection?" Does this mean it will later be available through general WiFi and not just Gamestop WiFi hotspots?
Ok, correct me if i'm wrong. After reading more about it, it seems like this event isn't happening for Canada?Omzzz
Doesn't look like it but I'm in the US and this is what I get as far as notification about it
You can contact your sop and see if they're participating, if not now then it makes sense it'll be soon

Don't know
I doubt it but no one knows for sure. You get the Pokemon from a WiFi hotspot placed in the store so I'm not sure that translates to it being delivered any other way
so i am finally going to get into playing pokemon. i don't have any of the games but thought it would be a good idea to get Jirachi after reading about Pokemon. So if I go and buy Pokemon Platinum what do i need to do on there to receive Jirachi? I read online that it said I need to get the Pokedex what exactly is that and is it easy to get right away
i am going to be getting either heart gold or silver so i would love to have Jirachi when i start. any help would be greatly appreciated

You'll know when you have the Pokedex, since you're new to the series I don't want to spoil anything for you
It'll take you about 15-30 mins to get the Pokedex, then once you have that you're all set to download Jirachi
So how do these work? Do i just go into Gamestop and ask? Or is just being close to one gonna work? Like, can i just walk in the store and do it, then leave? Never used Mystery Gift Before, so, kinda unsure.Squee707
Walk inside to the store (or park out in front if you can and want) then just start up your game.
In the main menu pick "MYSTERY GIFT" then "RECEIVE GIFT" then "GET VIA WIRELESS"
You don't need anyone's help in the store
Just get an Action Replay and get a LVl. 100 Jirachi.

Seriously?
It's a Pokemon game, how weak is cheating in Pokemon?
"Hey I have to go fight a baby, better drug it first so I don't get hurt"
I'll just play my Pokemon game correctly because I can if that's ok

Exactly. I mean... doesn't it defeat the purpose of a game based on (catching and training"if you just hack them all and breeze though the main game?
Jeez plp, people didnt spend hours on this game just so you could hit the Easy Button.

Absolutely correct. I shamefully admit that I did cheat years ago, but it completely ruined the game for me at the time. For anyone considering it, do yourself a favor, and just don't. You might think it'll be fun, but it just destroys any motivation for playing the games.
And it's extremely unfair to the other people who actually put time and energy into their games.
@ Jaysonguy
You said "For you guys not in North America keep an eye out for your promotion" you may want to edit that because Canada is in NA but they don't get the event. I know this because my best friend lives in Canada and I got a Jirachi for him because he can't because they're not doing it there.
[QUOTE="Icare0"]My thoughts exactly.Funny.
Once again, I'll not be able to get a event pokemon because Nintendo forgot that the rest of the world exist.

I live in Canada too, and I was pretty mad when I found out that it's for the US only. But luckily my best friend lives in the US, she got me a Jirachi and just traded it to me, same with the Pikachu colored Pichu. It still says it's from Gamestop in their info too for the original trainer so they should still unlock the special features in Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
I'll admit it's stupid though, Canada is also part of North America so these Wifi events should be here too. And EB Games and Gamestop are the same company so it really doesn't make any sense. But if you can't download them yourself, try and find someone who can and hope they'll trade it to you.

Canada? At least you get some love.I live in Brazil. Nintendo never made an event here.

Brazil? At least you get some love. I live in Chile. Nintendo never made an event here. The country is not even registered in the wii shop channel.[QUOTE="hamhero"]using an action replay to get the MOST out of YOUR game is YOUR business. :D if nintendo made certain toons available for all then the field would be leveled but as it is, they dont. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops just to get a mew if i want one. put the mofo in the game. just an example. so when you say using an AR to get the pokemon you want is pointless, that is just not true. for one, you cant catch them all if they all arent in there. next, not everyone using AR the same way. some enables the encounter for the creature and works it that way but whatever. have fun with your game and let others have fun with theirs. Hegna1It's still pointless. Don't kid yourself, you're cheating at Pokemon. It's not a hard game to learn, and you don't need these event legends, especially with the majority of them being banned from standard play. You're just spitting at the legit players because you're unable to reach events, and don't want to try trading (the original goal of the series). If you can't get it, trade until you do get it. Don't take the lazy way and use your AR.
There's so much correct here
I mean Pokemon is designed so that a 4 year old with basic reading skills can excel at the game. It's meant to be accessible by just about everyone.
So this is the game people cheat at?
The whole "well we don't get events here" excuse is weaker then weak. The game has always had a backbone of trading and now with the DS and it's ability to connect globally there's zero excuses when it comes to not getting the Pokemon you want.
It's just another example of people not wanting to do the work and if you can't handle that part of the game why bother at all?
altho the wifi experience is a handicap one on the ds, only accepting wep through game carts, it is functional. that leaves nintendo no excuse whatsoever for not putting all or most events globally through wifi connect. no you shouldnt have to go to nyc to download anything, it should be more readily available for the masses. once again, you cant tell people how they should play their game. first off, pokemon was design to allow ppl to play it how they want. back in the day i had 2 gameboys and 2 versions of pokemon, yellow and blue, just so i could trade with myself. would you tell me thats not how the game should be played? still that didnt get me a mew. oh and what would i have to offer someone with a mew? the mew is just an example but lets put this in real world scenario. would you trade something rare for something thats not? some people can only offer pokemon that are found standard inside the game. yeah now that there are traits, i could probably trade for a specific trait but thats still rolling the dice and wasting time when you could just break out the ar and save yourself the headache. more on point, this event is one of the better ones and given its downsides, thats sad. hamhero
As I've said before
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR CHEATING
With the DS there are no excuses left for cheating
