Why would it score any higher? It's the same as the first one, which is the same as EVERY OTHER DUNGEON GAME THEY MADE, with a Pokemon facelift. I wasn't expecting any higher then this, and I'm surprised it got even that high.
Look people, just because it says Pokemon on the front doesn't mean it's solid. Make sure it's made by Game Freak or you can pretty much forget about quality.
(Though the 3rd generation games WERE pretty terrible...)
Well, the first one got a 5.2 from gamespot. For some reason, mystery dungeon games do not do well in reviews. Personally, I love the games. I have Blue rescue team, Shiren the Wanderer, Izuna, and I'm buying Explorers of Time today. In fact, I'd buy any mystery dungeon games Chunsoft comes up with. They're really addictive for some reason.
If you are interested in the game, don't mind the reviews. Try it out and see for yoursel, you might love the game.
I just watched IGN's video review. Just as I suspected, the reviewer just doesn't like roguelike games.
He stated that the exit appears in the first room of a floor in a dungeon. That's not a flaw, it's just how roguelikes are. Sometimes you're lucky and don't stay for very long on a floor, that's all. Also, finding the next level is not the only thing to do in a dungeon! Players who want to level up and find items will explore the whole floor before goind up (or down).
Other errors:
The reviewer said that you lose all your possessions and money when you die. That's false. You lose all the money that's not in the bank and you only lose HALF your items.
At one point he says quite a few good things about the game and then flatly states he doesn't like the game. The only reasons he gives is that the game is "slow and repetitive" and that the dungeons feel "just the same". I disagree completely. The dungeons vary greatly in presentation and graphics. There are forests, cave-like dungeons, fire mountains, snow covered dungeons, etc. Also, because of the huge variety of pokemons, each dungeon has it's unique set of Pokemons.
The reviewer doesn't like the graphics. I love 2D games and I think Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is beautiful and colorful. It has all pokemons in nice animated 2D art (I'm not sure if it's possible to fit 400+ pokemons in a 3D game).
The menu is system is nowhere near as bad as he says. It's the same for all mystery dungeon games and it works well.
The reviewer also said that the touch screen are abysmal. That's just because the turn based/grid movement gameplay doesn't do well with touch screen. The game was made with the d-pad in mind.
Other pros: cute story, collecting pokemons

I'm sorry...Pokemon Dungeon 2 is better than Diamond and Pearl you say? Nobody listen to this guy, lol. It's kind of fun, but it's not that good.
