Magnezone/Jolteon - Magnezone hands down. Electric/Steel is a very effective combo and it has very good moveset (Zapcannon, Magnet bomb..)

Infernape/Rapidash/Magmortar - stick with torterra as you like it so much so that rules the monkey out. I think Rapidash is better choice for you because you get it very early on. You'll have a hard time with Gardenia without it (unless you had staravia or murkrow of course).

Golduck/Vaporeon - Golduck is probably one of the best water pokemon available in Platinum before the league. You get it early on which is always good learns lots of water moves something that Vaporeon doesnt Im afraid. It also learns and can learn psychic moves.

Altaria/Noctowl/Crobat - very admirable options here but if your looking to be successful then Crobat is the one. Very satisfying choice too as it is hard to get. Plus there's two evolutions so stats are boosted more.

Gengar/Alakazam - finally, this is a tricky one.. Gengar only has one weakness due to levitation. But psychic types have two weaknesses (bug ang ghost) so based one other facts too I recommend Gengar.

On the Alakazam and Gengar note. If you want a heavy hitter to take them out really quick go with Alakazam. Though I LOVE Gengar he isn't right for everybody. :P

Rapidash is only good for sunny day teams. Which BTW doesnt seems to be your case.

yeah but i taught my altaria fly already so my moveset would be screwed for competitive. i am most likely going to use crobat and i really like him since i caught it at lvl 6 as a zubat so yeah :). but what levels are your pokemon because i have some level 50s that was on my first file and then i started over to get infernape along with my torterra and i didnt really like the pokemon i had before and i figured id get another masterball for the legendary pokemon. so i still need to level up my pokemon before i could win in a battle loltupac3241
