Cool! I was really hoping Nintendo would announce a Ruby/Sapphire remake, it just kind of feels like the right time.
But it's interesting because this sounds like it won't be just a remake, but also kind of a...sequel? Or something. The descriptions of the game keep talking about "exploring a new world", which makes me think that this game will actually not be a remake at all, but a continuation of events in the Hoenn region. Or, at the very least, a remake with a completely overhauled Hoenn. Or maybe a remake, but with a ton of new content.
Whatever the case is, I was anticipating this announcement and I'm excited about it. I will probably get Omega Ruby since I tend to like Groudon, even though I usually tend to lean towards the Water-types. I don't presently expect to make too many big game purchases this year, but I think this is one of those games that's kind of a must for me.
I still have quite a bit of work to do on Y version. But this announcement is exciting because there's a lot Nintendo could probably do with this remake/sequel. I'm hoping that they'll try to keep that single player experience at the forefront this time around, and maybe even give us a bit more challenge and content. But at any rate, I don't think a R/S remake is a bad thing.
